This is only for the restaurant, not the hotel. We had one of the worst experiences at the bar and restaurant at the Hotel Northampton. We walked up to a nearly empty bar and the bartender barked "and what do you want?" without looking up at us. As we were ordering, she walked away. She came back and said "well?" We again ordered two simple drinks, and she brought them to us without a word or a smile or any eye contact. She put them on the counter, went back to print our the receipt and tossed it to us from a few feet away. As we walked to the patio with our drinks, she yelled (and I do mean yelled) "where are you going? You can not take any drinks outside." She was so loud the diners in the place all became silent and looked up. The staff member at the front door came over to us, acutely aware of how loud and uncalled for this was. She said we could, in fact, take the drinks outside, but it had to be to a small section of the patio, away from the diners. We followed her instructions only to find that all the chairs in this little section were tethered and bolted to each other and to the tables, so we could not even sit down. When asked about this she said "I said you could use the patio, I didn't say you could sit down." At that point we chugged our drinks standing right there in the dining room, and sat the empties on a stranger's table, and left. Never will set foot in there again.
