One can take an idyllic location, one can take a magical building and a wonderfully sympathetic conversion into a hotel, but without the appropriate staff, this would be at least in part a wasted effort. Torre de Tebra is a gem. The setting is stunning (I’d love to see the hydrangeas down the drive in full bloom) and the castle itself a real treasure with some amazing historic artefacts. Should we visit again, I would be very tempted by the tower suite. The increased price gains much extra space and access to the main tower (mind your head). But the real gems are Gaia and Patricia. They made us feel at home, while sharing information about things to do and places to eat. An enormous thank you to both of them. Practicalities: beds are very comfortable, decent showers, excellent breakfast, great communal facilities. We chose to eat in for our last night, which was a real treat. I’d happily give 6 stars out of 5.
