We had to change our travel plans at the last minute and were extremely lucky find a vacancy and spend the night here. The hosts, Darren and Karen, provide a warm welcome, very comfortable rooms, and a delicious breakfast. Added to that, there are stunning views from the breakfast room, and often creatures like rabbits, voles and pine marten just outside on the patio. With an excellent hotel and National Trust for Scotland gardens less than 2 minutes stroll away you don't have to travel far to enjoy this stunning corner of Scotland. Our hosts had an enormous library of guidebook, plus personal knowledge of the region to provide advice on how we could enhance our visit. Well-situated and comfortable property Great location for visiting the Kilmartin valley and Oban, helpful and friendly hosts, lots of local info available at the property, good breakfast with lots of choice. Next door to a National Trust garden and a 4-star hotel with excellent meals

Fantastic hosts and great accommodation. Had a most enjoyable stay at The Old Cottage with wonderful hosts Karen and Darren. Really comfy double bed & great shower. Had the benefit of a gorgeous roaring fire in spacious lounge area at night with lots of DVDs and a library of books about stuff to explore in the local area. Darren and Karen were such lovely people, warm , friendly and gave helpful tips about the locality. Breakfast was fabulous, tasty and varied. Would highly recommend this B&B and will definitely be back. Many thanks to Darren and Karen for an amazing break.

Darren and Karen are wonderful hosts! This B and B is one of the best we’ve stayed at in western Scotland, or really, ever. Clean, bright, nice showers, and the views are stunning. The guest sitting room is welcoming and comfy, the breakfast is delicious, and Darren is a bird enthusiast, so as you eat you watch the wildlife flutter about right outside the doors. It is right next to Arudaine Gardens (they abut), and that is a very pleasant way to spend several hours. Five out of five in everything- I wish we’d stayed a week!

I stayed two nights here while attending the Clipper Race Event in Oban and visiting Crinan, a place connected to my late husband. I stayed in the Jura suite, which was beautifully decorated and had a substantial en-suite! The suite also has access to a high-wood-vaulted lounge area with loads of books to look at. Breakfast was perfect. I had a cooked vegetarian meal, and it was delicious. I was lucky to have the "Bird-feeding TV" right before me. I loved seeing all the birds and wildlife visiting - with beautiful views along the coast. Finally, and I think most importantly, were the hosts themselves. They were extremely hospitable from the outset, and we chatted about so many things! Thank you so much and I will be back :)

An excellent stay at the Old Cottage, the hosts Karen and Darren were extremely welcoming and very helpful. Our room called Islay had absolutely everything that was required plus a few extras such as chocolates. The Breakfast was outstanding and if you are lucky and have an early breakfast you may even see Red Squirrels through the patio window. A wonderful B&B experience.

This is an excellent b&b in the country with views across the loch. Darren and Karen are very fine and friendly hosts. I am very happy to recommend if you want a rural stay about 30 minutes drive from Oban.
