As Marriott owners, we are accustomed to their properties so the WorldMark was a bit of a departure for us. Here’s our take. The good: Staff is excellent, beds are very comfortable, decent shower pressure and the fireplace is nice. Views are good from the higher floors and each patio has a bbq. Kitchen is well equipped with appliances in good working order. Generally clean but could use some attention to detail. Top load/stacked washer/dryer whipped out clean/dry clothes in a flash. There also seems to be plenty of room at the pool (no chair hogging) even though it’s a holiday week. The playground/basketball/ tennis areas are well kept and suitable for very young kids to teens. The entire outdoor recreation area is fenced and felt very safe. Ample parking in the garage with spaces wide enough to actually get out of the car easily. The not so great: Location is debatable. Very close to the marina and a smaller beach but a bit of a haul to the pier. It’s also between a freeway and a railroad track, so there is some noise and the aesthetic is not great. It’s dated and the rooms are showing their age (but renovations are coming soon). Noise, again, is an issue with some units or groups at the pool blaring music (couldn’t always tell where it was coming from). Thankfully, that seemed to end by 9 or 10, presumably when the revelers ventured into town. Only one elevator was working, so could be a bit of a wait. Since it is small, there is nothing for older kids to explore without going off property (which I would not recommend they do alone since the crowd at the beaches can be a little on the rough side.) Overall, I could see this as a good value for those with younger kids who want to let them explore and keep them close at the same time (e.g. let your 9 year old play basketball while you hang out on the balcony kind of thing). It’s at a lower price point than other stays in the area which makes it more accessible, particularly for families who need more than one room and prefer to eat in. The rooms on the west side are likely quieter because the freeway noise is blocked by other hotels behind the complex. So would I stay again? Maybe. I wouldn’t “highly recommend” it but I wouldn’t tell someone not to stay here either. I would book again if it was the best option at the time but it wouldn’t be my first choice. After it’s renovated, it could be a gem for the right traveler. Just depends what your looking for!
