South Coast Horizon

We recently stopped at South Coast Horizons to ask to see one of their rooms as we were thinking of booking for our next visit to Antigua. The receptionist was very unhelpful and said they wouldn’t allow us to look at a room and we should at the pictures on the website. I explained that I wanted to get a feel for the place so see if it was right for us but this again was met with refusal. So we will be booking elsewhere and they have lost out on a potential of 3 week booking.

Terry was our guide for an island tour and he was great! One of the most knowledgeable guides we have had throughout all of our travels. He was such a good guide and fun and interesting to talk with. He shared many tips and details about the island. I feel like we really know Antigua! A true professional!!

The Kayak and Scooba Diving were an amazing experience. Kevon and Captain Alex were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and took us through the mangroves on kayaks (fun). They then took us out to the reef snorkeling where they pointed out turtles, rays (of various varieties and sizes, some gigantic), and barracuda. It was astounding being so close to all these beautiful creatures. They were patient and careful, funny and informative. We were a small group and we really bonded over some tasty rum punch (fruit punch was also available). Altogether an unforgettable experience which we highly recommend.

A refreshing experience whilst we travelled around Antigua . You need bring food as the buses are few and far between , but the taxi driver from the airport was happy to stop at a supermarket and wait for us , without charging any extra ! The rooms were clean and tidy , you need mosquito spray . The frogs are very loads at night , all night so bring earplugs . The apartments have a quiet pool to relax in and you can walk through the mangroves and swim from the beach . The staff were happy to help and were friendly . A great place amidst the hustle and bustle to relax and enjoy the surrounds . It’s a rain forest so it does rain a short time most days .

South Coast Horizons is a great eco-friendly option that I'm surprised gets very little attention. This boutique is located on the southwest of the island, in the "country". It's a beautiful picturesque setting, with the option to walk or kayak through the mangroves and hike through the nearby forests. The studio rooms are actually very nice and modern, and set up for self catering. The hotel is a bit far, and no real amenitities, although there are a few restaurants a short bus ride away. If you are going through the mangrove wetlands, if just to observe the nature or on your way to the beach, DEFINITELY cover up and wear bug spray on your way through, as there are lots of tiny critters that are native to the environment that will bite, especially around dusk/dawn. The beach itself is ok, but a bit shallow. The pool is lovely, and they recently renovated the area around it, to include charging stations, so it's a great hangout if you're staying as a group. Again, this hotel is pretty far away from the main areas of action, so either have your own transport or arrange some. But it is definitely a picturesque option for persons looking to getaway and relax.
