Orka Village Hisarönü

This was my second time at orka village, I visited the same time last year but unfortunately this time my experience wasn't as good and am unsure if I would return again. Firstly an electric shaver and some money went missing from my room. Hotel won't do anything as they expect you to pay at for a safe (why would you put an electric shaver in a safe anyway) was a brand new one too so that was very disappointing. Also one day I returned to my room and all the maid had done was taken the sheet off my duvet, they hadn't out a new one on so I was left with a duvet with no cover on it folded up on the bed. My toilet leaked and had to hear the water dripping all night and also the extractor fan in thr bathroom was very loud and sounded like a running engine anytime we had it on. I requested a room with double bed but was given two singles and I had to push them together and rearrange the room and sleep with a gap in the middle for a week, didn't get one good sleep. Another issue with the room is the bright light that comes off the TV and the button where you tell the maid if you want the room cleaning or not. I need complete dark and this isn't ideal at all. I also had no iron in the room. The slides run very slowly, especially the bendy one which had very slow running water and you actually stop half way down it's that slow. Another issue is the pools, the spaces get filled up very fast, and some days me and my son were forced to go and stay in the smaller quieter pool as that was the only place with spaces. Me and my son and other kids were in the smaller pool and no kids were being overly loud or rowdy, we got some dirty looks off older self entitled visitors to the hotel and had a few Karen's moaning about children being in the quieter pool. The kids that were in the pool were all 9 and under from what I saw and none of them were causing a nuisance yet there's always moaners. Some kids don't like busy, loud areas and prefer the smaller quieter pool yet some moody visitors really seemed to have an issue with this pulling faces. I saw one old women giving a kid dirty looks and telling him to shush. A women came over to me and told me it was the "adults only" pool. I asked her to show me where it says "adults only" it doesn't. It says quiet pool. And in my opinion no kids were being over the top in there at all. If people don't want to be near kids then they should pay the money to go to an adult only hotel. The orka village needs to clarify this situation as it seemed to cause a bit of a stir during my stay. Also one day during my stay, some scumbags tried to steal my sons inflatable and beach ball. We went for something to eat and we came back and they were gone. We finally saw someone with them in the pool bar, the exact inflatable and beachball, what are the odds. I went over to the and they had the cheek to claim that they owned them. I just grabbed them and took them and none of them said anything, which says it all. The hotel was full of Engli

We visit Orka Village regularly and have been truly impressed by the TUI Kids’ Club reps, especially Shannon. As a foster mum of four, I was amazed by Shannon’s natural ability to connect with children. One of my little ones, who has had a very difficult start in life and rarely trusts anyone, took to Shannon immediately. Shannon made her feel safe, included, and confident – something I don’t see often. Shannon’s name is now mentioned daily in our house – my little one absolutely adores her. Shannon has a calm, understanding, and joyful way with children that is incredibly special. Yasmin is also absolutely lovely and brings great fun and energy to the mini disco and pool activities. Both Shannon and Yasmin are a real credit to TUI

In terms of *rating we’ve stayed in fancier hotels for family holidays but this gem in Hisaronu is the only place we’ve returned to which speaks volumes and has a high percentage of repeat guests. The hotel was initially recommended to us by family as our kids got older and we needed more space for growing kids with proper beds and no ridiculous supplements and both families have now returned several times. The hotel offers twin/double rooms, larger rooms with a 3rd bed and also 2/3 bed family rooms. The rooms are getting a bit tired and dated but were clean and comfortable. Last year premium rooms were added at the front area of the hotel and these were in an updated modern style and a very popular addition. Orka village is in a quiet location in Hisaronu but within easy walking distance of all the restaurants, bars and shops. We’ve only ever booked on a B&B basis but there is opportunity to upgrade to half board available from reception which is flexible to how many evening meals you want. The breakfast buffet has all the usual offerings of cereal, continental, Turkish, some cooked items, freshly made omelettes and pancakes etc and unless incredibly fussy you’ll always find something. The pool area is quieter and more chilled around the adult pool and busy and lively around the family pool with music, activities, slides on 10.00-12.00 then 14.00-16.00 and the pool bar/restaurant is popular for lunch. In the evenings the restaurant area is always busy and especially popular on themed BBQ/Turkish/Gala nights when there is entertainment included. The bar area at the front of the hotel is more chilled and a great meeting spot before heading out for dinner. Staff are warm, welcoming and attentive and many familiar faces each year All in all a friendly and comfortable base to enjoy a holiday in this area with plus points far outweighing any negatives.

We had to phone the police tonight ourselves as the hotel staff phoned the night manager for permission. The Police came and were very professional but staff were absolutely useless. If you value safety I wouldn't bother coming here. Booked with TUI but I'll make a separate complaint with them.

Honest review of this hotel in October half term. We had a brilliant time, with some points that I will mention. The hotel was very quiet and we had it to ourselves virtually, apart from a few other families. Rooms are in need of a refurb, as they are very tired. We stayed in room 416 and did have some issues, all of which the staff dealt with immediately. Pool area is fantastic, although the water was freezing at this time of year and could do with being heated. Slides are brilliant. All the staff are lovely and friendly. The hotel is kept very clean! The main hotel area is very modern with some shops, sadly they were closed because of the time of year. The supermarket on site was virtually empty because of the time of year aswell, again a real shame. Entertainment was non existent because of the time of year, only Dolphin left and he did an amazing job but nothing going on. We did have belly dancing one night and the bar staff were brilliant fun at night. Very entertaining. TUI were very naughty to sell the holiday as if we would be getting what people in Summer get. They should tell you things will be winding down and nothing going on in October half term. We like it a little bit lively at night and it was dead for half term week! Food I’m afraid was not for us. There wasn’t much choice and what there was, wasn’t the best. However the food at lunchtime at the pool bar was really nice and well priced. Drinks were about £2.50 for a Coke and cocktails £8.00. Again sadly they weren’t the best. It sounds like I’m being negative but I’m just giving an honest review. None of it spoiled our holiday. Definitely go up the cable cars and have lunch at the top in the wine bar. That was amazing. You can watch the people paragliding off the top! The strip is only a five min walk away from the hotel and here you will find all the shops selling fakes, supermarkets etc. We were recommended to go the Seahorse Beach Club. It was awful and an absolute dive. They do come and collect you, but we spent £250 in a day on food, drink and sunbeds and it wasn’t in the best location. If you want a peaceful relaxing holiday in October with amazing staff and views, then this is the place for you. If you want somewhere a bit busier book elsewhere. The most amazing break though!
