Golden Rock Dive and Nature Resort

The Golden Rock Dive and Nature Resort on Sint Eustatius is, for us, the hidden gem of the Caribbean. We have rarely experienced such warm hospitality. The manager made sure we lacked nothing. At the Breeze restaurant (what an interior!), we were thoroughly spoiled, with vegetables fresh from the garden. And then our apartment: a stunning view, tasteful decor, and a blissful bathroom. Everything was more than spotlessly clean, with an abundance of luxurious towels. Additionally, the lush, architecturally designed tropical garden, covering about 20 hectares, was a true paradise. The vibrant flowers, along with colorful hummingbirds and butterflies, were a feast for the eyes. Although we're not divers, diving instructor Sjouke took us on a snorkeling tour, where we spotted turtles and even a 17th-century cannon.

If I say that this place is Paradise on earth, I am stating the truth! The Resort is Amazing , very ECO friendly, dedicated work loving staff, excellent Food. I am here for Diving and it’s been fantastic. There are plenty of wrecks and Reefs to Dive and what makes it special is the Dive team. I have dived in several countries but the Dive Instructors here provide support and make it SAFE ! They are simply the best. I have already done 8 divers. For nature lovers there is a Botanical Garden, in fact the Resort itself is one! Trekkers will find the Quill a place to trek and see the Flora and Fauna with stunning views. If you just want to Chill you don’t have to leave the Resort with the Spa.

Our expectations were exceeded beyond our belief! Beginning with the ride from the airport to the resort. The staff was so accommodating, helpful and ALWAYS pleasant. THE ROOM: the appointments and design of the room was very well thought out and we never said, "wouldn't it be nice if there was..." it was always, "well look at that, there is lighting under the bed!" The bed, linens, towels, etc. were perfect. The furniture was so comfortable and perfect. THE GROUNDS: 40 acres of lush landscaping! Since the resort is self-sustaining, there is a solar farm, RO water plant, greenhouse to grow fresh vegetables, The Golden Chick(en) Resort is adorable, putt putt golf, 2 pools, 2 restaurants and many trails to take walks. There is also a fully appointed gym and spa appointments are available. THE RESTAURANTS: We were there Monday - Thursday, so only partook in meals at BREEZE. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic and always flavorful. Can't wait to try Bobbie's the next time we are there. OTHER: There is a GRAND dive facility - we don't dive but imagine if you do, you would be impressed by the facility. And that was just the resort - Statia is a friendly, little island. Her people are so welcoming and the island is loaded with history. We can't wait to go back!

We arrived at the end of September through the first weekend of October. It was a beautiful resort with the best food we've had at any resort, ever! We came during a slow week and our rooms were upgraded without asking! I hope to come back soon!!

I stayed there with a big dive group and can't say enough about this place. The dive operation is fantastic. Great diving and dive guides. Full service meaning they switch out your tanks for you, they even take your fins off in the water before getting to the ladder. How great is that. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very well appointed. The wi-fi is fast and works everywhere at the resort, at the pool, restaurant, everywhere. The garden grounds is such a delight every time we walked around the resort. I can't comment on the food as we were a large group and had nightly buffets. I loved the food. The staff are so sweet and attentive. A special shout out to Sophie, the event organizer, who did an outstanding job managing our large group.

A truly eco-friendly 5 star resort. The physical plant (rooms, pools, restaurants) were 5 star/newish and I think every room had a view of the sea. The service was excellent, too. The staff was always asking if we needed anything. I felt like they did all the work all week, which is what I needed! The grounds were lush with exotic plants/flowers/hummingbirds. Unlike many places in this part of the world, this resort cares about the environment: they have solar panels, desalinization equipment, greenhouses growing food, etc. Very gentle on the environment. We only had reusable cups on our dive boats, for example. I wish I could have stayed longer. I got used to living there! The island of Statia is a great place to get away from commercialism and tacky tourism. It was clean and the natives were welcoming. I highly recommend this place!
