Stayed for one night for our 30th wedding anniversary. A very warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our room - wow! It was a delux room overlooking the estuary and it was perfect. Because it was March, it was quiet, but I actually liked that for a change. As the sun was shining (although cold) we headed down for a walk along the estuary. Now the hotel provides maps for several routes along the waters edge, but we are local so knew where we were going. Plenty of wildlife and the landscape stunning, just like a lot of places in Suffolk. A visit to Orford Castle is a must, the history plentiful and views high up will take your breath away. Check out Pump Street Bakery in the square, best bakery around!. We headed back to the hotel for afternoon cocktails, and a member of staff (lovely lady) lit the fire for us, which was very welcome after the bracing winds!. We ate dinner in the restaurant and again served by a very polite young lady (really should have made a note of the staff names!). The food was absolutely delicious, as was dessert. We had a complimentary glass of fizz as it was our anniversary, and the chef surprised us with a plate saying happy anniversary in chocolate, with a couple of macaroons, with cream and some rhubarb, all a very nice touch indeed. The night was finished off with an Irish coffee (very creamy). Had a really good nights sleep, and after a lovely hot shower headed down for breakfast. Again served by a lovely lady, nothing was too much trouble. A good choice for continental, followed by a cooked breakfast, with tea and coffee. Digital check out (which I understand is relatively new) was seem less and very easy to do. I cannot recommend the Crown and Castle enough, faultless in my opinion, and our next trip (probably to Aldebugh) will be hard pushed to beat! Thank you for a most memorable anniversary.
