Art of Moments

We chose Hotel Monterey Grasmere Osaka for our final night in Japan, mainly because of its strategic location—and in that aspect, it truly delivered.
Situated just above the Namba walk, it was super convenient for shopping, dining, and getting around, especially with easy access to both JR and Metro lines. Do note that even though stations share the name “Namba”, you’ll still need to walk at least 5 minutes between some of them—but thankfully the walk through Namba Walk is smooth and luggage-friendly, unlike the bumpy roads outside.
We booked a larger room on purpose, and it was worth it! We could open two large suitcases comfortably with room to walk around, which made our last-day packing much less stressful. The room’s European-style design was a refreshing change from the usual minimalist or Zen vibes—we really enjoyed the unique decor and hotel ambience.
That said, the service felt a little underwhelming, especially for a 4-star hotel. The front desk staff seemed quite busy and didn’t have the same warm welcome or attentiveness we received from some smaller 3-star hotels during our 2-week trip. Nothing terrible—just not as personable.
Still, for convenience, comfort, and aesthetics, it’s a solid pick. And being able to head straight to the airport by bus or train right upstairs? A definite win for travellers with heavy luggage like us!
