Etotongwe Lodge

The Lodge is very clean and comfortable. Atmosphere is really amazing. T Bone steak , chips and vegetables , was out of this world . It is a very good stop before you go to the Etosha . I will definitely come back again . Excellent work to the workers and management. Well done Loots

Although this lodge is 100km away from Etosha (about an hour) it was still a great place to stay. The staff here were just lovely, friendly and helpful - especially after we discovered a large spider in our room. We were able to park very close to our lodge which meant it was easy to load up with cameras etc for our game drives in Etosha. On our first night there weren't many visitors and got to order from the main menu - I had an amazing pizza. For the following few nights a coach party of German people had booked in and the meals on the following nights were both buffet style meals that featured German food - not too much of an issue though as we managed to find something each mealtime that we liked. The take away breakfast option was great an allowed us to make an early start visiting Etosha. One evening we had a visit for a local group of singers that were excellent, although we wish we'd have known in advance as we didn't have a lot of money on us to give them a fair tip. I found the lights throughout amusing - they looked like the ghosts from PacMan. Service was a little a slow at times, especially when ordering drinks which had to be brought up from the bar area to the restaurant. This seemed to be an issue with the limited number of staff trying to accommodate such a large coach party as well as other guests.

The outside atmosphere is good, but the room prices are a little higher than they deserve, and the indoor lighting of my room was awful. For some reason, I could not connect to the Wi-Fi from my room as it did not even show up on any of my devices, despite it working in the restaurant.

We needed a place to stay and were not in a position for much choice. The campsite was absolutely fine. I had to report that the toilet was not working, water was on the floor, but this was attended to quickly. As it is near the town, the quarry works are very noisy and peace and the beautiful sunsets can only be appreciated later in the day. PS the coffee shop in OUTJO is great.

Our room was quite far from the reception and not easy to find in the night. Unfortunately no WIF in the room only at reception. We also missed a refigeration in th room which would have bee great to have. Food was ok in the restaurant, nice small bar outside, Very positive were that the village is a short walk away so that you can enjoy restaurant and a excellent bakery easily.

Upon entering the empty lodge we asked if there was a restaurant to which the staff responded "yes" and blankly starred at us. After a few minutes we where shown up a dark staircase into a dimly lit almost empty dining hall. The waitress just waited behind our table asking us what we want without handing us a menu first. When ordering i ordered a large berry iced tea and received small peach iced tea. When we ordered drinks again we asked for two berry iced teas and said last time we got peach. The waitress noded, said ok and came back shortly after with two small peach iced teas again. The food took 50 minutes to arrive after orderering despite us being the only ones ordering food and while waiting all we could hear were microwave noises from the kitchen. The chicken cordon-bleu was soggy and bad and the vegetables microwaved. The T-bone steak was half fat and bone and the "side" salad piled onto the plate on top of it. Cannot recommend.
