Solar Egas Moniz-Charming House & Local Experiences

If you have the opportunity to rent this villa, RUN, don't walk to do it!!! We are a group of retirees who travel together and have rented villas all over the world---Hungary, Italy, Spain, France, Mexico, Morocco, etc. In all the years we've been renting villas, we have NEVER had an experience like we had at Solar Egas Moniz. The location is great---easy access to Porto, and all the surrounding towns, and close to the train station. The rooms are beyond comfortable, with upscale furnishings, delicious bedding, plenty of essentials and many thoughtful extras. The kitchen is the best stocked we've ever encountered, and, without our asking, Iva, the manager, had shopped for basics which were there when we arrived---milk, coffee, bread, condiments, fruit, eggs, oils, etc. There was also a home baked scrumptious chocolate cake, courtesy of the housekeeper, still warm from her oven! Fresh rolls and pastries were delivered to our door every morning from the local bakery. And Iva made their wine cellar available to us (payment on the honor system) which we very much appreciated. Her father, the wine collector, has a very discerning palate! You won't find a better equipped home or a warmer more caring staff available anywhere!!!

We spent a week at Solar Egas Moniz with our team of 12 managers, combining remote work with exploration of Northern Portugal. Our experience at Solar Egas Moniz surpassed all expectations, particularly in terms of the exceptional hospitality provided by Iva and her team. The property boasts spacious accommodations, each equipped with private bathrooms and heating/AC. Ample shared spaces are available for gatherings or meetings, and the reliable network connection (100/100Mb/s) ensured seamless remote work. The fully equipped kitchen allowed for convenient meal preparation, complemented by the delightful touch of fresh bread, Pastel de Natas, or croissants delivered right to our door. Additionally, the location proved convenient for both visiting Porto (accessible by train or car) and exploring the picturesque countryside. To sum it up - Solar Egas Moniz is highly recommended and best wishes to Iva and her team once again from our side!

Best Hospitality in Portugal. Charming, historic Home/Hotel. Hostess's efforts to assure your comfort are beyond any experience. Located is a small village, 5 minute drive to a train station with quick access to Porto or points East. We had dinner prepared for our group the first night by the hostess and staff and I highly recommend guests do the same. It was a wonderful experience to learn the history of the property and it's surroundings.

Beautiful home, decor, & grounds. Impeccable attention to every detail from comfortable living areas to time spent welcoming & engaging us in conversation. Eva & Natalia attended to our specific needs throughout our stay. Charming & engaging, Eva made us feel like we were a part of her family's history. You walk away with a feeling like you were meant to find this place & these people.🤗

Solar Egas Moniz is a wonderful property surpassed in beauty only by it's owner Iva! She has an amazing spirit and character that resonates throughout her home! There is space galore! It is clean, neat, and very well maintained! I would recommend staying here to anyone! 5 stars are not enough to rate Solar Egas Moniz!

Wonderful property that was incredibly well stocked. They thought of everything and even stocked some food for us to enjoy. Fresh bread was also delivered every morning! We were a group of 10 friends and there was plenty of space, we only used 6 out of 10 bedrooms and all were very clean and comfortable. Iva was a joy to work with! She welcomed us and explained everything, included tips for what to see and do. She even arranged a delicious dinner to be made for us one of our nights by the talented Natalia and made reservations for us at a great restaurant another night. Our entire group loved our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. Iva is a ray of sunshine! I cannot recommend Solar Egas Moniz enough.
