Wilpattu Tree House

Fantastic location right outside the gates of the National Park. Massive room with enormous balcony that was up in the trees so you could see amazing birds really close up. Very friendly staff and good food although not a lot of atmosphere when we were there. Quite a few mosquitos around dusk but there's a lot of water nearby - but as a result, lots of birds and other wildlife too. Got a great packed breakfast on our early safari drives.

This is an excellent hidden gem just minutes from Wilpattu National Park so great to go safari’ing from. It’s apparently 1 star hotel but that grossly underrates it and it was better than much higher star rated hotels have stayed at in Sri Lanka The accommodation is in quaint treehouses (with some accessible rooms adjoining the restaurant and reception. Great views from some of these and at night the have had wild elephants walk past! The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful, carrying our luggage to the top tree rooms in the tree houses and back without any questions. Food was really good home cooked Sri Lankan food. You won’t get the wide breadth of choice you might at a buffet or restaurant for a bigger hotel but the food was amongst the best Sri Lankan meals we had in Sri Lanka and much cheaper than in a bigger hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are going to Wilpattu. One point to flag, the treehouse rooms had no TVs. However very good wifi so you can stream on personal devices.

This is my 4th visit to this wonderful hotel. Each time I visit the place it gets better and better. The staff are exceptionally friendly. The service is superb. The rooms are clean and cosy. The meals are very tasty and the quantities very generous. We generally do full day safaris and they are happy to provide both breakfast and lunch for you as you leave at 5.30 am. The packed breakfast and lunch is very tasty and packed very efficiently. I was very impressed with the tambili and fresh juices that were provided with our packed lunches. The welcome drink of soursop was exceptional. It is clear that a lot of tender loving care is taken by the owners and staff to ensure the guests comfort and this was highly appreciated. Will definitely be returning soon

Arrived, looking forward to our 3 nights stay here in the Tree House, but in spite of our booking, we were told that there was a problem and that we will have the tree house, room on only on our last night, tired and after a long journey we accepted the basic room (that did not even have coffee/Tea making facilities,} On, our last night when we were moved to the room, tree house, we realised what we had missed out, not only was the room comfortable with all amenities, luxury compared to the room we were given on arrival, thats, what we had paid for, my agent told us that the refund given was bare minimum. Rs 3000, Very disappointing, We did not have enough time to experience the birds that came to the tree.

We had a wonderful time staying here after a full days safari. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, and a private balcony was a bonus. Food at the restaurant was really nice too. Excellent value for money. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying here, lovely and peaceful place, perfect for nature lovers :)

We are a family with 3 kids under five and had a great stay in the tree house. Nelson and the rest of the staff were very welcoming, relaxed, caring to our needs and playful with the kids. The view from the room was stunning and we saw so many different types of birds, in addition to the regularly passing water buffaloes and curious monkeys. Nelson and staff helped us book the right type of safari to meet our needs as a family with small kids (one as little as 7 months). We would be happy to visit again in the future.
