Papagayo Golden Palms Beachfront Hotel

The Golden Palms resort in Papagoya is heavily. The staff are outstanding and kind. The pool is so clean and big. It’s so big it never feels crowded. The rooms were clean and had a mini fridge, which was great. We appreciated the complimentary breakfast but it would be nice if the menu varied from day to day. I highly recommend The Golden Palms resort. We’ve been there twice and will return again.

I was very impressed with the property’s gardens, which were exuberant and beautiful. The room we stayed in was big, a suite, super comfortable, clean, spacious with lovely view of the gardens. The bathroom amenities were awesome and smelled so good I would buy them if they were sold. Access to the beach is right there passing the swimming pool and every morning we got to see the congos arrive. The staff extremely friendly, helpful and resourceful. The property is undergoing some maintenance and when they are fully restored and ready all through the hotel, it would be great to use gym and spa etc. We hope the hotel invests in promotion and publicity so people consider this as their option. Although it is nice to be in a quiet place, we wish them to receive a bit more of guests.

Solo trip over a long weekend, and Golden Palms was a great choice. Pros: - Quiet. This could be because I went during low season, but I twice had the pool to myself in the morning and at night. There was no wait for food, and I had my pick of beach lounges. - Everyone was SUPER friendly, but this is consistent in Costa Rica. - Location is less than 30 minutes from the airport. Also, was closer to Nicaragua for my one day trip there. - Rooms are exactly as pictured, and clean. Beds were made daily, with towels/robes refreshed daily. - Food portions were satisfying. - Property is beautiful upon arrival. I went on a number of tours, and multiple passengers from other hotels commented on how beautiful the property was. - Price was more than fair for where i stayed and the service I received. If back in Papagayo, I'd stay here again, hands down. - Security was checked every time I arrived or left the property. Cons: - Bugs/spiders in the bathroom. I actually didn't complain about this because it didn't bother me, but I can see how it would with other people. - Pool needs cleaning multiple times a day, but wasn't. I'm weird - WEIRD about swimming in a pool with a lot of debris. I did it, but hated doing it. - Restaurant food was ok. It definitely isn't varied. Over my four nights there I tried almost everything, I didn't hate anything. The pancakes I tried the morning I left were delicious, I'd recommend those. - Because the restaurant food isn't exceptional, the location is sort of a negative as well because you're not near anything. You'll have to drive or take a very expensive taxi to eat at other locations. All in all, I enjoyed my time there, and would not only stay again, but recommend it to others looking for an reasonably priced Papagayo/Guanacaste hotel stay

We booked a four night stay. Didn’t fully realize the risk of a non-refundable booking since there were so many glowing reviews. It is low season and when we arrived there was no one at the entire resort except Felix at the front desk. He was nice, but way too many issues for us to stay here and possibly ruin our holiday. The room was clean but there were bees that came in through a window that didn’t close tightly. For someone with bee allergies this is just too stressful. The restaurant was very limited and we did not want to have to drive at night to the hotel’s remote location in the dark to eat elsewhere. We stayed for an hour, walked to the nice but rather unkempt beach, then left in search of someplace less desolate to stay in the low season. Emailed golden palms to ask for even a partial refund after we found another place to stay. They have not replied after three days so I assume our money is gone, but that’s better than risking our health or not enjoying our vacation. Reading other reviews with anything negative I expect a very polite response will be posted by the owners, but my advice is to never book a non-refundable stay here. See if the location works for you before you commit to more than a single night stay.

Very comfortable rooms and amazing butterflies and birds throughout the property. Hammocks and nice chairs down by the beach! Pool was fantastic and food was good. Service was excellent and staff very friendly. I love the stairs in the rooms and patio was a plus

The setting, the tranquility, the proximity to the beach, the nice pool, and the attentive staff made this a great stay for me. It was nice to arrive to a welcome drink. Shout out especially to Luna, Douglas, Ester, Andrea and Lauren for making this a phenomenal vacation! I hope to be back with my wife very soon!

I stayed here for 6 days by myself and enjoyed every second of it. The food was great everyday and the drinks..let’s just say the drinks had me feeling good! Haha The staff was the best though. I truly miss them. I felt very welcomed and I appreciate that. They helped me out in any way they could. The room was always clean and they are very spacious. The view of the garden was very nice to look at. The beds are comfortable too. The resort is in a very quiet area away from others which I enjoyed a lot. Most of the time you would have the beach to yourself which was a nice feeling. A big thank you to the staff again! Everybody I talked to was so nice and helpful. It was also nice to just have regular conversations with them too. I am planning to come back soon haha

We loved our stay here. They were very accommodating to our requests and gave us a bottle of wine and chocolates to celebrate our Anniversary (they also welcomed us with a cute swan towel decoration on the bed). The pool is huge and very nice to relax in after warm days at the beach. Also loved the monkeys and the birds around the grounds too. We would definitely come back.

Hotel was clean with beautiful grounds. We felt like we were the only guests there. There were monkeys by the pool which were so fun to watch. Service and meals were excellent. The beach was dark sand with very warm water. Not my favorite beach, but it was secluded and sandy. This hotel is only 20 minutes from LIR airport and felt safe driving there in the dark.
