Fodele Beach Water Park Resort

Amazing resort in a beautiful location. Very nice and helpful attitude of the staff. The food was absolutely great.(There is really something for everyone). My son enjoyed the water park and the train ride around the grounds. The beach was beautifully clean and well maintained. I would also like to highlight the animation programs which were excellent and my son looked forward to them every day. We already know that this was not our last visit to this resort. I can recommend it to everyone with a clear conscience!

An absolutely stunning location albeit there’s nothing else around it. A hire car or the bus is the way to get out and about. It’s perfect for family’s with children up to 14 years of age. The food is fantastic from the main restaurants, the pool bar food by the slides is very basic but will keep you sustained until the evening, or there is the train to take you back down to the main restaurants if needed. The main building and the rooms directly over looking the coast are all certainly five star, but it must be said that the family rooms built into the hillside, although very quaint and spaced out are not 5 star. I’d give them a 4 and that’s being generous as they are clean, tidy with fresh water left outside every day, but they need upgrading/renovating to match the rest to be an honest all around five star resort. It does leave a slightly bad taste in the mouth as this resort is priced 5 star but not all of the aspects of it are. The location/views, the slides and water park are fantastic, there is a shop onsite that sells snacks, drinks, trinkets etc. this shop arranged car hire and sells a range of swimming attire and equipment, goggles etc. it’s true that the evening meal peak times are pretty chaotic but it must be said that although the staff look stressed they work very hard trying to clean up and prepare tables for the next guests. Go after 19:30 is my advice. You must have the mojitos from the main bar, they are superb. All the cocktails are very good to be honest. The local beer and wine is not too bad as any all inclusive, a slight negative was that the bar stops serving all inclusive drinks at 11 but stays open until 1am but the drinks are then chargeable. The toilets in the main building are immaculate and the whole complex as a whole is exceptionally clean and there are always staff cleaning all hours. There’s a very good variety of evening entertainment, the spa was average this time but in 2023 was much better. We took the day trip to Spinalonga, an absolutely fantastic trip but be advised you leave at 6am and dont get back until 9pm! Worth it though for sure. We also went to Knossos palace and Heraklion which we would highly recommend. Something worth mentioning is that we came here also in 2023 and the life guards were ever so diligent and friendly but in 2024 they all looked new and there was a big burly man in particular who was being rude and man handling the other women working there which we felt at a family resort was unacceptable, the rest of the life guards were generally on the ball. We highly recommend all of the a la carte especially the barbecue on the beach which was devine. All in all a very nice resort, in which the majority of the staff work exceptionally hard to make your stay enjoyable and carefree and it would have had five stars if the rest of the rooms, ours included, was five star. Highly recommend.

The hotel is very nice, with good accommodations, plenty of pools, a waterpark and a beach. The hotel is located on a mountain flank, so there are some stairs to do but they also have cars to drive you up and down during the whole day. The food was great and varied with themed buffets and a couple of a la carte restaurants. Everything is included in the all-in formula. Every night there was entertainment from local and international groups which were in general really good. During the day the entertainment team organized activities throughout the whole day for you to participate. The hotel itself is a bit remote, so if you want to go somewhere you have to take a bus (there is a daily bus from the hotel to Heraklion and back) or rent a car. That is the only downside I can think of.

We spent a week at this hotel with our son. The hotel is clean and very well maintained, and our room had been recently renovated. Some parts are a bit older – especially the aquapark – but even there everything is spotless and in excellent condition, which is impressive given the number of guests, so it really wasn’t a problem. The food was good, and I would like to give credit to everyone working in the restaurants. Despite the incredible number of guests, they managed to keep both the dining area and the buffet tables perfectly clean! The staff, including the animation team, were always kind and helpful. Our only negative experience was with the bartender at the rooftop bar – he was unfriendly, and his drinks were not very good. On the other hand, the bartender at the main bar just below reception deserves 7 stars! The same goes for the barmaid in the All Days restaurant! The main pool is beautiful and the area around it is clean, but considering the hotel’s size, it feels a bit small. The lower pool is already shaded in the afternoon and not as nice. If you get up at 8 a.m., you won’t find a free sunbed at the main pool anymore. Unfortunately, reserving sunbeds early in the morning is common here. The beach is clean and well maintained! Overall, the entire management and staff deserve praise, because at this hotel there really is no time to slack off. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Lucie Dornakova
