Hotel Tirreno

We spent a delightful two weeks at Hotel Tirreno, near the historic cliff-top town of Tropea. The service was very friendly, the room (with seaview) very tasteful and comfortable and the food excellent. The hotel has a lovely private beach and an excellent pool. There is a shuttle to the beach. We would have liked a regular daytime shuttle to Tropea - which is an awkward walk - as the night-time shuttle was too late for us after dinner and there are no buses. Overall, being in Calabria was a new and rewarding experience and we would love to return.

My partner I visited for a week in June and to be honest, did not want to leave. From the moment we arrived we were looked after impeccably by all the staff from Stefania, the owner, the restaurant & bar staff, housekeeping ladies, lifeguard & the shuttle bus young man. This is place for us was like finding a little piece of heaven. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and set in stunning grounds. The rooms are outstanding and really big with everything you need, safe, fridge, hairdryer etc. We went half board and could not fault the food at all. The choice at breakfast is plentiful and then you are asked to choose your evening meals in advance from a varied choice which is listed in reception. The shuttle bus down to the beach is really frequent and fantastic when it is too hot to stroll down. They also have the shuttle running in the evening into Tropea, which is fantastic for exploring when it is cooler and also gives you the chance to eat at one of the many restaurants or bars there or just have a wander around. We found also that most bars if you drop in for a drink will give you free snacks which was fantastic, we ended up having to turn some down as there was far too much for us, but it was so thoughtful and such a nice touch. This break for us was about rest & relaxation and it most certainly was that and more, thanks to the staff at this wonderful hotel. We cannot wait to return and do a bit more exploring next time. Hotel Tirreno is a lovely & inviting traditional Italian hotel. All the staff are welcoming and generous with their time and information during your stay. We stayed in a Junior Suite with a terrace and sea view. The room was well proportioned with a good sized bathroom (shower). Plenty of storage space and the bed is comfortable. I always love a room with tea & coffee making facilities. The hotel is kept immaculately and run very efficiently. The reception staff speak good English and were incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed half board. The breakfast choice was very good with hot & cold options available. You choose your evening meal early in the day, and each day there were at least three quality choices for starter and main. You can also request a 'grande' version if you're feeling very hungry. Stefania is an excellent sommelier and really helps you choose a good quality and very affordable glass or bottle of wine. If you order a bottle and don't finish it, they will keep it stored for you until the next day, such an excellent idea. There is a free shuttle service to the beach and Tropea, we didn't use this as we like to walk everywhere, but it was available if needed. The pool area is beautiful and relaxing - no loud music blaring, which is a definite plus point! There were plenty of loungers and parasols. The view from our terrace to Tropea and Stromboli was spectacular. There is a roof top bar at the Hotel Piccolo (which shares the site) again with stunning views. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and will definitely like to visit again.

Fabulos week at the Hotel Tirreno in Calabria Italy! Two years in a row, we had the lovely time there; best hospitslity, delicious dinners and breakfast, beatiful nature, and more. We will go back to the hotel again for another fabulous excperience :)

This hotel has to be one of the most friendly I have ever stayed in. Nothing is too much trouble. Every member of the team was always smiling and ready to help. Bar staff. Room attendants. Life guard. Restaurant staff and reception. Minibus transport to the beach and nearby town is laid on free of charge. The food was magnificent. Stefania is simply lovely and Gianni made our days start with a smile at breakfast. They all work so hard and seem to have tons of energy. Thanks for a fabulous stay in such a comfortable and clean hotel complex. Like a little village.
