Great location for the south-west coast path. Room comfortable but the quality of the service, food and drink was outstanding. Breakfast menu and dinner in particular had a broad range of locally sourced foods that were cooked and prepared beyond our expectation. Wine and beer choices were equally as impressive. We've travelled quite a bit in North Devon and this is a gem of a place.

Firstly the good points: the hotel is clean, comfortable and well-maintained. Our real gripe is with the restaurant, which is quite important when there are few alternatives in the area. We stayed for a week which proved to be a big mistake when we discovered that it was the same menu day after day. Particularly limited as we are both vegetarian and found the offering even more restricted. When we communicated this to a waitress, she replied that they try to change it every month (!) Asking if we could have something other than what was on the very limited menu, she said she would ask the kitchen. The answer came back - a very firm 'No'. We find this unhelpful attitude extremely disappointing, and needless to say will not be returning. Very poor.

We booked a table in the bar.. Ordered starters, which was only garlic bread, when it hadn’t arrived after 45 minutes we asked the waitress about the delay, she came back to say it was being served at the same time as the mains, we said we didn’t want them at the same time to which she responded the mains is cooked. We had no option other than to cancel the starter.. there after the waitress rolled her eyes as if we were difficult customers! This was a disappointing experience particularly as we live locally and have a business that supports many tourists that seek our advice on local places to eat.

Lovely old fashioned country inn. Lovely gardens, car park was a bit scary to get into with a roof box on, as to get to the car park you go through a tunnel under the 1st floor of the building. There is a footpath from the back of the car park across fields that I’m sure would have sea views if you went far enough. Didn’t have any lunch as didn’t fancy the sandwich menu, only 4 options. Just had a drink and crisps. Was fairly busy and looked to be a popular visit.

It feels like you’re walking onto the set of Game of Thrones as you enter The Hoops Inn & Hotel. Navigating a slender driveway and tunnel to access the ample carpark behind and then an entryway to the pub that boasts gargoyles and stained glass. We visited on a busy night but a table for two was found in a cosy nook of the private dining room. Lots of character in the decor and a varied menu that had several options for vegetarians. The meals were served in generous portions and the handmade onion rings in the steak dinner were a delight. Friendly and helpful staff and a reasonably priced delicious meal for two

Lovely warm welcome to the restaurant the bedroom was very nice very quiet and once it got dark it Was pitch black very warm and comfortable will come again lovely walks from the pub to a beach then returned back to the b&b and sleept very peacefully will come again

Fabulous stay, very personable staff, best shower yet in all my stays. Simply fantastic brekky, and the previous evening whilst supping a few pints of their very well kept real ale observed food arriving at guests tables and this also looked of very good quality,just wish I'd been hungry! The Hoops sits in lovely countryside, although actually being on the A39, quite close to the coast, a short walk out the back of the car park and you're overlooking The Atlantic, stunning!

This Hotel never fails to deliver. Staff are always welcoming, friendly and always go the extra mile to ensure your needs are met. Food is excellent tasty and reasonable. Venue is lovely, it's a warm and inviting, clean and comfortable. Great place to visit 😀 😊

We called in on a Tuesday evening just before six and the bar staff were incredibly rude and short, telling us there were no tables despite the place having plenty of empty seats and tables. I wouldn't bother trying here - shame as it looked a lovely family pub from the outside!
