Patterdale Hotel

Basic Hotel in a beautiful location Reasonably clean Good food and reasonable bar area, nice outdoor area Staff friendly in general but could do with a bit more customer service training Some staff were abrupt at times and struggled at busy times Room small and basic Room not serviced daily Hot water was dangerously hot, cold water was cloudy and not fit to drink. Despite this, good value hotel as a base to explore the area

Went away am with my uncle and dad for a couple of nights and called in for a drink on our walk, Bar staff here were amazing!! Very accommodating and great venue. Food menu looked great, we had booked elsewhere before we seen the menu but will be coming back to try the food. 👍🏼👍🏼

We recently visited The Patterdale Hotel as part of a large group of walkers. Check-in was smooth and friendly. Serving meals to a large group can be a challenge but the staff were super efficient. There was always a choice of two meat-based meals, a fish and veggie option and portions were more than adequate for hungry walkers. There are many walks direct from the hotel - both challenging and easy. Thanks to a great team ( and the weather) for an excellent stay.

Been coming to this hotel for the last 15 years 2-3 times a year, it has been a fantastic place to visit with the best staff………… but not any more, staff are so unfriendly and unprofessional it’s unbelievable how much this place has fallen, food is very poor, awful quality and service is like a McDonald drive through, get you fed and out of the restaurant ASAP. Bar staff have lots of snide comments especially the little fat bald fella that looks like Gollum, one saving grace was the scouse bar man who was very good at his job and looking after the customer’s. WILL NOT NOT BE COMING BACK HERE ANY TIME SOON. SHAME ON YOU CHOICE HOTELS.

We went for a 2 night stay using a Travelzoo voucher bought for us as a gift. The experience was definitely one of pros and cons. Firstly all the staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts were excellent and the evening meal was reasonable (although we found a starter option of fruit salad on the menu a bit bizarre). The hotel is perfectly located for walking, with lovely views of the fells. The hotel is very, very dated and the public areas are quite shabby with scuffed paintwork, broken fixtures and fittings and grubby carpets. The worst public areas by far are the main bar lounge and other little public seating areas. A number of guests described them as like being in a bleak old folks home which really does give an accurate view. They definitely didn’t tempt us to linger there after dinner. We stayed in room 120 on the first floor. Unfortunately this room is directly above the bar and a sound system speaker screwed to the ceiling. We asked to be moved as the noise in our room was intolerable (to be fair our request to move was agreed right away by reception staff). In summary I would say that the hotel is OK if all you are looking for is somewhere to use as a base for walking and a reasonable meal and breakfast. Anything over and above this I would say there are better alternatives.

Arrived as a solo traveller I was given a warm welcome by the gentleman on reception who offered to help with my bags, this was the start of 2 fantastic days. I went to the bar & received a very warm welcome by Andy & Kev who looked after me all weekend.The kindness didn't stop there, I was welcomed into the restaurant served by a great lady called Hazel, she was amazing a breath of fresh air always so bright & cheerful. I also had the pleasure of meeting Mr moody in the restaurant { he certainly had the wrong surname} he went out of his way to ensure I didn't feel alone & ensured i had everything i needed.my room was a good size with views over the fells & nice & warm, the food was great always nice & hot I hope to return soon, thank you to all the staff
