Roc Oberoy - Adults Only

My partner and I stayed here in the middle of May and after deliberating, 3 out of 5 is fitting. Positives: The beds were very comfortable firm mattresses. Room was cleaned well and towels changed every day if requested. Instant hot water to a very good temperature. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Cannot fault them at all...they assisted with finding a sink plug and fixed another issue with the sink the same day. It had a lift for luggage (albeit tiny) which was the first time we've had one abroad, very handy! The room was a little smaller than expected. It had a smaller wardrobe with a few hangers and a small chest of drawers. You had to fully open the wardrobe doors wide otherwise the drawers wouldn't open. It had the new safe in there as well as the old safe (taking up room). As someone else stated in a recent review, the air conditioning didn't work which was frustrating, we left the balcony door open each night to let air in. The fridge was big enough for a large 7L bottle of water and another 2L bottle. Balcony was nice with a table and chairs overlooked the pool. The keycard was fiddly to get the door unlocked. The breakfast was good, generally the same stuff every day, but a good variety of eggs, meat, potatoes, fruit and pastries. The dinner was varied, mostly beige dinners as expected at an all inclusive. The first few days we're good, then from Wednesday seemed to fall into the same AI category of overly salty or overly processed chewy food. We mainly stuck with salad and the cous cous. Then, one evening I found some uncooked chicken on a skewer and put me off eating there the last couple of days. I made a member of the team aware. We were out most days so we only had lunch once at the hotel which was good due to the slow cooked steak stew but unfortunately didn't see this resurface. Evenings were quiet, we often went out to a local bar in Paguera, but for a lot of the older people at the hotel, I know it was probably a bit boring. There is a crooner style singer on Tuesday and Sunday who was okay. Overall, very little atmosphere, but didn't mark it up or down for this as this suits many people. Overall size of the hotel was good for us, maybe about 30-40 rooms, much better than a large hotel complex. Only places to park were on the street or a public car park further down the road, luckily we managed to get a space every day. Like the previous review, I feel the hotel must be testing the waters for the new season. We arrived Monday and on Wednesday night they put a notice on the bar saying that all inclusive drinks would only be served until 10pm and then would be chargeable from then until midnight. We found this an insulting gambit by the management and the hotel staff had to deal with the fallout of unhappy guests from every room. We complained to the manager first thing in the morning as did several other guests. The manager explained it was miscommunication and should have said 11pm. Even so, this put our no

We stayed here in May and the hotel had only been re-opened a couple of weeks before, as the season began in Majorca. The hotel is situated at one end of the Main Street which runs along the coast. Nearby there here are a large number of shops, restaurants and bars. The beaches are only a short walk away from the Oberoy and they are very welcoming and clean. Paguera is small and pleasant town on a lovely sandy coastline, ideal for sunbathing or swimming. There is not much else to do though, so expect a very relaxing holiday. There are local buses to Palma and taxi’s are easy to find. There is even a bus from the airport should you not have a transfer and don’t want to pay about £70 on a cab, (but I am told it takes for ever). With the hotel only having just re-opened not everything was fully functional. The room telephones weren’t working, the hanging rail in the room had been fitted without hangers and there were off white patches on the ceiling and walls where the plaster had yet to set same to the same colour. Even the heating wasn’t working (it can get cold over night). With this soft opening, there was work still on-going, with power tools and hammering from early in the morning. The rooms have a small TV, small fridge and a safe. Unfortunately like most Spanish tourist hotels you have to pay extra for the safe to be made functional. The TV only appeared to have a few satellite channels and none of those were from the UK. The staff are all incredibly friendly and happy to help. The front desk is manned 24 hours a day. We were given a piece of paper when we checked-in that said evening meals were severed on the second floor and that men needed to wear long trousers and shirts, this wasn’t the case and they said it was a misprint, (there is only one dinning room and that’s on the ground floor). The hotels second language is very much German. It would also be fair to say that the town is very much a German tourist destination. Though the reception and restaurant/bar staff speak reasonable English and French as well though. The hotel’s clientele appeared to be mature with a scattering of younger guests, (some coming for a long weekend break). The pool is big with a life guard on duty during opening hours. It isn’t heated so there were very few swimmers due to the temperature in May. When booking you have the choice of room type and also board type (depending on who you book through). We reserved a terrace room rather than a balcony room. The difference is the size of balcony. The terraces are twice the size of the balcony space and have two sun beds with a sun umbrella along with two chairs and a table. The balcony rooms have just a table and two chairs, without umbrella. The choice of board seems to be a choice between B&B, half board (breakfast & dinner,) or all inclusive. We chose the all inclusive deal as the cost is not that much more and we could always eat else where when the food choice was not to our liking. The local beers, wine

Our experience there was excellent. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and made very welcome. Our arrival was later than their dinner time but they very kindly saved us some dinner. The room was more than adequate, all the staff were very polite and very helpful. The food was plentiful and of a very high standard. We thought the layout of the hotel was spot on, all in all excellent, 10/10. We’ll be going back The view from our room was over looking the pool and patio area, lovely

Check in was very efficient. We arrived late and the overnight security was lovely. Some food has been left out for us without us asking. It was basic but we didn’t mind as we appreciated the food at 0100. The rooms are clean and basic but do the job. The beds are very comfortable. The walls are VERY thin, just be warned Our aircon was not cold at all and the room was hot even on a night. We reported this our first morning to the reception team and they came and sorted it. No issues after The pool area is small and secluded. Nice and peaceful - suntrap! We went down at 0900 and no sunbeds left though which was a shame as the pool doesn’t even open until 1000. They keep it cordoned off until then so no chance of getting in early. And they kick everyone out at 1800. Really should be open a bit later. The pool towels are a €10 refundable deposit (cash only) and if you want clean ones there is a charge each time of €2 per towel. The food was BASIC and the hotel has very limited entertainment. Based on the food alone I would not return to this hotel. If they sorted out that issue we would come back. I didn’t hear anyone saying they enjoyed the food on offer. Odd combinations and generally just not appealing. The bar/waiting staff seem to work extremely long hours and they are the same ones most days - very hard working bunch. Special shout out to Sam at the bar. Great guy and very helpful. For what we paid we were happy but I would definitely say this is 3* not 4* and be prepared to eat out if you want a decent meal.

Absolutely fantastic hotel, the staff are brilliant and the service is outstanding. The staff in the restaurant work so hard, constantly on the go, and are always happy and will help you anyway they can. The reception staff are very welcoming and on the day we arrived we were very late and the lovely Arnie saved us a meal. The other reception staff are all very kind and helpful. On my last day, the lovely reception lady said Happy Birthday to me, very nice! The staff that clean our room are really good, very friendly and always happy. The food is outstanding, a good variety of drinks served, a very immaculate and well maintained hotel. The good thing about this hotel is.. adults only, very quiet!

Just returned from a 5 night holiday here with my daughter. I would definitely come back. The hotel is small and quiet. Staff are very friendly and a particular comment on how lovely Sammy and the young man at reception were. The rooms are comfortable, we had a room on the 4th floor accessed via a lift. The hotel is mainly geared towards Germans but some French and English there. The pool area was lovely. Previous people mention that the pool closes at 6pm which it does as the lifeguard finishes at this time. The food was good with plenty of selection. After 5 days and if I was dtaying longer I may have skipped the off meal to have something different at a restaurant, but for the price we paid I could not fault the food really. On an all inclusive deal you always had access to drinks. A lovely hotel in a lovely resort.
