The rooms were lovely, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Lovely bed linen and toiletries. Really good coffee, tea and biscuits in the room. Jacky and Steve made us feel very welcome. We were in the area for a family wedding and would love to come back for another stay.

Just returned from our 5th stay here with friends and The Black Swan is still amazing. A lovely, welcoming country pub with a fantastic atmosphere and cozy log fire. Rooms are clean and well equipped and the food is amazing. The best asset of this place are the owners Jacky and Steve and their team. They work so hard whilst remaining friendly and professional. We’re looking forward to our 6th stay.

Lovely, welcoming staff, nice surroundings, and excellent evening meal - really delicious, high quality restaurant food with not run of the mill veg - tempura brocoli, creamed greens with dill, and carrots and veg wrapped in bacon and baked. Sea bass in hollandaise was fab, and sauces to accompany roast chicken, slow cooked leg of lamb, and pork medallions were excellent as was everything. Very generous portions and we just managed to squeeze in shared desserts.

I’ve stayed in a variety of pubs that offer bed and breakfast. Some have been okay and others awful. Sometimes you are at what is clearly a good pub, but they don’t really look after the customers for bed and breakfast. But the Black Swan ticks all the boxes. Comfortable bedroom and good breakfast. The evening meal was excellent. Good options on the menu and the selection of vegetables served with our mains was as good and varied as I have ever seen. At breakfast, you don’t get to choose cereals etc from a breakfast buffet, which is disappointing. The shower cubicle in room 3 (twin-bedded room) is tiny but I dare say there is nothing that the owners can do about this. Would happily stay here again.

The food was way better than any pub food we have ever had and the prices were very competitive. Breakfast was included which was also excellent. Overall the room was good, although the internet really only worked downstairs. We had room 7 which was clean and comfortable, with bath, tv and tea making. Staff were excellent and they really tried to make you welcome. Great choice of beers. If we’re in the area we will definitely stay here again.

Stayed Thursday night on our wee mini tour as part of our 35th wedding anniversary. Very warm welcome, beautiful room! Comfy bed. Dinner was fantastic, breakfast delicious! Couldn't ask for more. Would definitely return! I had the trout and my husband had pie both delishes and good size portions.

Stayed for 2 nights at the end of May, we had room 7 and had no problems with this room , it was a treat to eat here the food is excellent I really enjoyed every mouthful, the hosts were pleasant and v3ry hardworking , Jane never stopped I thought there was 2 of them .. try the menu you won't find much better at the price .. I thought the dinner was a bargain especially as the lamb came from the fields down the road .. I will visit again

Best nights sleep ever great people and food. We enjoyed a lovely family one night stay, breakfast was delicious and large portions at dinner. Great bar quiet location and close to Penrith. Would stay here again. No doubt about it …………………..
