Elix, Mar-Bella Collection

An absolutely beautiful hotel in a stunning setting. Excellent quality decor and facilities. Extremely peaceful and tranquil In the most beautifully well kept gardens. The views are incredible and loved being here and felt so relaxed! The one thing we found that could do with improving upon are the dining experiences. The Indigo restaurant seems to be run by inexperienced staff and the food, whereby tasty, the presentation was not up to standard. The main restaurant buffet had very limited choice and this was very disappointing. The staff in this restaurant were great and attentive. The complimentary’Dine Out’ experience was diabolical and to be perfectly honest an insult to us with regard to how much we Paid for this hotel. It was a grubby, Greek restaurant in a tatty area and the staff and food were really poor. In comparison to resorts of similar price and expectations (ie Grecotel and Ikos) this let it down.

We decided to stay at Elix following a stay at the sister hotel (Marbella Beach, Corfu) last year which we enjoyed. The hotel lobby is beautiful and airy with spectacular views. The rooms are also lovely and clean and plenty big enough. As a family group we stayed in 3 rooms, 2x family suites and 1 suite for sole use. The rooms were of a good size and clean with lovely views from the balconies. The beds, including the children’s beds were comfy. We are at the buffet, and both a la carte restaurants and the dine out meal at local restaurant. The buffet was good, but I found it quite limited with options for the children, although there was the usual bread, salad, fruit and pasta so they managed. The Italian restaurant by the pool was our stand out favourite. Every dish was perfect and delicious. The beach was shingle/pebble for the most part which we found a struggle with the youngest children who wanted to play as the sea was too rough for them to swim in some days. The sea was beautiful though, so clean and blue. There were a couple of things that I thought let the hotel down though. There are stairs everywhere. Perhaps we should have guessed there would be, with the hotel being on a hillside but as the youngest child we had was 2, we had to hold his hand everywhere so he couldn’t run ahead as there were so many steps around which he wasn’t too pleased about. There is also only 1 main pool. The pool, wasn’t ever too crowded but it got pretty boring not being able to change it up throughout the week. The children’s pool is just a small shaded pool set to the side of the main pool. This meant the water was really cold all day, and there are no loungers/chairs around it so if you want to let the kids play in it you have to sit on the steps to watch them. I saw no children play in this pool the whole week of our stay. I would say this hotel would be best for adults only or families with older children. Overall the hotel was pleasant but wouldn’t stay again for the reasons above.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES. Whilst this hotel is beautiful and the front of house staff are lovely, the hotel’s management lack integrity. I almost died on the first day of our honeymoon due to the hotel’s neglectful consideration of my allergies, not taking them seriously. The first day I arrived there were nuts in my room, despite the hotel already being notified of my severe allergy. I ate something labelled nut free on the first night and within minutes was struggling to breathe, it was a very traumatic experience, particularly as we were so remotely placed and the hotel didn’t apologise or give us any compensation or even a free dinner following the incident. We were down a thousand euros in medical bills, I lost my wedding ring and the medication I was put on meant I couldn’t sit in the sun for the subsequent days of our holiday. I then also felt anxious to eat anything at the buffet restaurant again as even the chefs weren’t sure what was and wasn’t safe for me to eat. Overall, there was a severe lack of understanding and if they continue like this, they will end up killing someone. They also invoiced me for the emergency taxis we got to the hospital. Honestly shocked and disgusted.

Beautiful location with lovely views from all over the hotel. Rooms are brilliant and new with comfy beds and awesome views out of the windows. Beach was a great experience with great staff on hand helping you out with drinks and sunbeds always looking out for you. Service was awesome throughout the whole hotel with brilliant food selections across the restaurants and a buffet that had everything possible! Plenty to do with the gym, tennis and spa keeping you active and busy throughout the whole day. Boat days and dine out options was also a great touch. Particular mention to George the guest relations manger who helped my family through a difficult last couple of days and looked out for us amazingly. He was brilliant along with all the staff which made it a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

Great stay at the Elix so far. Amazing weather, food and holiday so far. This is the second MarBella hotel we have stayed at, the rooms are very comfortable, there are great restaurants and holiday vibes. This hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere, chilled out vibes and truly amazing views which all contribute to a relaxing holiday experience. Thank you to all the staff in the restaurants, bars and around the pool who have looked after us all so well. The views are the stand out for this hotel. From the restaurants, bars, pool the views of the Ionian are all simply stunning.

Fab hotel. Not too large. Staff super friendly. Food brilliant especially Italian a la carte and Asian buffet. Lovely fruit at breakfast. Sea swimming maldiveesque. Great boat trips. Tennis and ping pong for kids. Lovely holiday. Love to come back
