Hotel Diffuso Il Portichetto Vezio Perledo

Rita runs a lovely hotel! The accommodations were lovely and the rooms were stocked with everything you might need (umbrella, washer drier, water). I was very impressed by the hospitality. Also, the night bus was a convenient way to get up the hill.

Our room was comfortable and large. We enjoyed the wine that Rita left in our room as a welcome. The breakfast was delicious and fresh. The walk down to town took about 30 minutes with careful walking. Rita offered to call us a taxi if we wanted it, but we walked back and forth to town the two days we stayed at Il Portichetto.

Our apartment was well stocked, very clean and served daily. There is a great breakfast buffet every morning and the restaurant offered homemade meals every evening. Rita, the hostess, is very helpful, friendly and treats you like family. She has a personal interest in making sure his guests enjoy themselves. She also taught me how to cook Italian risotto and then we had it for dinner. When traveling we like to immerse ourselves in society, meet the locals and that is what the Portichetto allowed us to do. it was a fantastic holiday we will not forget and Rita and Portichetto made it possible. Highly recommended.

This lovely B&B has an enviable location in Varenna, our small balcony overlooked the town and at night time it felt very ‘atmospheric’ Rita, the owner, is very approachable and hospitable. She arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the nearby Varenna-Esino train station. If you wish to visit Lake Como, Bellagio etc the location is ideal. Rita can provide dinner (extra cost) and she even upon request a tagliatelle dish I specifically asked for, in fact two different versions of tagliatelle on one plate. Local red wine at a reasonable cost, always available or even large Pieroni beers if more to your taste The room was always clean, a safe provided and use of a washing machine. The property has a ‘rustic’ feel and felt very authentic in a wonderful setting.

Beautiful views, great location, lovely food, staff so helpful and friendly. But what sets this apartment aside is the hospitality Rita and Kirsty provide, you feel like more of a local/friend, than a tourist being passed through. We will miss Il Portichetto, and Peepo 🐶❤️

The "breakfast" in the room was the same during the 5-day stay. The towels were NOT changed only 2 times. The water in the jacuzzi was dirty. At the restaurant, breakfast could not be served for a fee only after 11 o'clock. In the evening for dinner, the restaurant was closed at 8 o'clock. Going up and down in the forest is quite difficult. In the evening there is no light on the "forest path". The price of the rooms is very high. The room for one person does not exist. I paid for the room for two people,...I did not receive towels for two people...

High up the hill side (mountain?) above Varenna on Lake Como. Quite a challenge the first time to find and drive up the winding road. However once settled we found that we a had a spacious fully equipped apartment with a balcony and great view of Lake Como. Onsite restaurant & bar quite a welcome relief. Christina (hostess & server) a great host. Very peaceful & relaxing. Castle a few hundred yards away , provides wonderful park & view of Varenna & lake.

The booking for this two night stay was made by a third part so I’m unable to comment on value but the quality of the stay was superb, mainly due to the it’s staff. Rita (owner) replied to an email sent pre arrival and arranged for a taxi to meet us from the train station as we were arriving quite late and out of season. We were then met by Kirsty, part of the hotels team who booked us in. We also had arranged with Rita an evening meal on arrival. It was a local festival day and the family and friends were all enjoying a supper together, we were made to feel very welcome by all. The homemade ravioli, followed by braised beef was washed down with local red wine. We were allocated a room in one of the four around the pool, a good-sized, spotless room which is well thought out with all the little extras that you might need. (Iron, umbrellas/fridge with bottled water, welcome bottle of wine/tea + coffee and in the decent size bathroom even a washing machine, detergent provided) There is a collective poolside patio outside the room for the four poolside rooms, which is well positioned with olive trees and catches the afternoon sun. Being out of season and not many places open we very grateful to Rita in providing us an ample breakfast at no extra charge both mornings. Accessing the lakeside and main town area, there is a footpath that drops 800m+ into the centre, trainers/boots recommended, it took 15 minutes descending + 25 to walk back up. The view is superb out over the lake. We caught a local ferry (9€ pp) across to Menaggio (15minute crossing) which have stunning views out over the lake. Again due to most places being shut we opted for Rita’s homemade cooking on the second night, again it was delicious. A huge thank you to Rita and her team/family for making us feel so welcome, we throughly enjoyed our stay with you.

Our only regret is that we only stayed here for one night. Our room was next to the pool - it was a large room with so many amenities - laundry in the room, great wine, snacks. The owner of the hotel was so lovely. The drive up to the hotel, while a bit of a challenge the first time, also contributed to the specialness of the location. We drove down to Varenna for dinner, although you can also walk. I cannot recommend this hotel enough - the service, the location in a small tiny neighborhood high above the lake with amazing views, makes it a memory, rather than just another hotel.
