City Quarters on Brewer

If you want unsafe and unsanitary accommodation stay here and get riddled with bed bugs. Poor customer service, unable to get hold of anyone, do not respond to emails, do not call back when saying they will, constantly chasing them for resolutions and getting none. When first arriving at City quarters on Brewer, we had not received the codes to get into the room and had to ring and email multiple times before anyone got back to us. When arriving back at the accommodation the door and lock to the room was broken, the door could just be pushed open from either side, meaning it was not safe to stay or store our luggage in, the accommodation could not provide another room, they stated the door was not broke until we sent the photo and video evidence it was, they said they would get someone out to it that day to fix it, which they did not, nor did they update us that this had not been done, as it was late at night we had to book alternative accommodation for the night and was told it would be fixed the next day, again the next day no updates we rang multiple times and was told at 4pm they had to order parts and it would not be until the next day so again had to find alternative accommodation for the night. Day 3 we rang multiple times with no response 3pm we got through and was told they were on their way to fix the door. We arrived at the accommodation at half 4, when the joiner was putting the door on which was lucky as the code was different and no one ever messaged or rang to say he'd been and that the code was different. We stayed thay night and woke up the next day and noticed the bed was riddled with bed bugs, that we could physically see everywhere. When contacting the accommodation they were no help at all, they will not refund the money for the night we were unable to stay or the alternative account we had to pay for. Of course we don't intend to stay in a bed bug ridden bed, and have requested a full refund for the week we booked of which we only stay one night, yet they are refusing to pay anything. The room also has the smoke alarm ripped out and mold. Absolutely disgraceful place and people. Do not stay here.

Upon arrival I felt I had to contact someone by email as to the state of the room. The reply I received was we are sorry you are not happy we have forwarded the complaint to the relevant person. Never got another reply or any of the issues resolved. The sofa bed could not be used at all as the actual base was missing so when you sat on it you sank to the floor. My son has cerebral palsy so got stuck and I had to assist him out of the seat. The bed was not the size requested. In 10 days nobody so much as emptied a bin. I did request new towels which were kindly given to me by the cleaner. The room was at best shabby at worst dangerous. I have included pictures to give an honest review. I feel all I really wanted was for someone to validate my comments and possibly change the sofa so my son had a nice place to sleep. There was a standard lamp which had no light in it. My son did not feel safe here. And on a night when there was a planned power outage we decided to book elsewhere as I didn't feel safe being in the pitch dark with my disabled son, no security no safety. I would not have left the review in this way if the company had been in contact with me, but on hindsight they definitely did not care about my email or my concerns. I can normally see a bright side to most things and do not leave bad reviews lightly.

When the keypad to my room stopped working at 6.30 on a Sunday morning there was no way to contact anyone. No emergency phone, no possible instructions. After 45 minutes I woke up another guest who let me use their laptop to ask the the ‘live chat’ told me I’d have to wait until 10am for the cleaners to arrive. After another half an hour of attempting the key pad, I was able to to renter my room, however this meant I no longer felt safe leaving the room to used the shared facilities (the door on the bathroom also extremely difficult to open). Would not stay again.

I think the one star rating says it all, However to satisfy the minimum character count I have to relive the experience for you. So, Lumpy pillows, a smaller bed than my own one at home. No coat hangers in the cupboard which was missing the safety bracket and could have fallen at any moment as the floors are wonky and in need of re-stumping. The shelf above the tiny fridge was broken and is unusable. There is no kettle in the room. Only a shared one in the hallway along with a shared microwave and a shared fridge. I was LUCKY and got my own bathroom (which was pretty clean) but other guests have to share one of them too! There is no real cutlery or crockery supplied only paper cups, a small pile of paper plates and a few disposable forks. There is little insulation between rooms and I could clearly hear other guests walking in and out smoking all evening and my neighbour “exercising” well into the night. I wasn’t very pleased with having to send my credit card and drivers license details to a random text message when trying to check in. But you can’t get the access code to the door without doing it. There is nobody onsite just a few cameras. In all it has the feel of a hostel not a hotel certainly not any kind of hotel that I could honestly recommend to anyone that I know.

The place is okay but far from what is advertised. The room was cosy although not clean with soap from from the previous occupant still in the shower and dirty floors and sticky walls. The room is in need of some serious maintenance. Wardrobe would be useful if it had hangers. The hallway ‘kitchen’ has only a microwave, kettle, fridge, tea/instant coffee. No bowls or cutlery etc or breakfast cereal as advertised. Overall the place is quite loud due to zero sound proofing so anyone hoping to use said kitchen will wake up the whole place. Could get a nicer cleaner hostel for the same price, choose wisely:)

Absolute crap. Dirty a nasty place to stay Better off staying in a backpackers hostel. Cleaner with more amenities and would be more secure Once you have paid you can not contact them. Contact numbers on the website are disconnected. Total false advertising for the bedroom, linen and towels and especially the Private Bathroom Broken towel racks, broken toilet seats. Shower dirty. Walk through a common kitchen from the bathroom to your room. Never felt so unsafe staying in a place. Just DONT do It
