Original Douro Hotel

Beautifully furnished rooms, fantastic service from front desk. A gem in the middle of duoro. Do yourself a favour and stay here.

Great little hotel with super service. Great snacks and a very good breakfast. The rooms are small yet very modern in this restored old house. The only negative is there’s no parking and you can’t get the car loaded/unloaded at the front of the hotel. Parking is on the street where it isn’t easy to find a spot

We traveled through Portugal for 2.5 weeks staying in nice hotels. This was the nicest of them all! The building is beautifully renovated and the staff was helpful with tips about the area. We had a room with a terrace. The room was very large, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom very modern. The breakfast was delicious. We would stay here again.

We arrived this morning, having heard lovely comments, over breakfast, from a guest that stayed here yesterday. We're were not disappointed, the place is a true gem! Whilst booking, several months ago, I somehow managed to get my travel dates wrong and was contacted very quickly, by staff, to query this. My mistake was rectified with no drama and I had very good vibes about the the place. Now, unfortunately, I am a very light sleeper, I'm quite dreadful and the room we were allocated overlooked the railway line, at the rear of the hotel. Whilst I pondered how I would manage, 3 trains went through and my wife told me that I would struggle sleeping. I popped down to reception, apologised and explained my predicament. Not only was I immediately changed to a quieter room, it was also an even nicer room than the first one. I'm sure that this will set the scene for the remainder of our stay here and I feel very lucky and most grateful for the help I've received. Stay at The Original Douro Hotel, it's the nicest place we've stayed at so far during this holiday and I'm sure that you will be asdelighted as I am.

A beautifully restored hotel, Original Douro sits in the heart of the Douro Valley. The owner has combined new with old to make this truly a one of a kind hotel. The room was clean and well appointed, the breakfast buffet was plentiful with an assortment of choices, the staff was warm, inviting and very helpful. The hotel is situated in town with plenty of restaurant options all within a short 8-10 minute walk. Metered Parking is available on the street.

This was a great boutique hotel with a slow elevator :). This wasn't perfect but when you add a comfortable rooms, cleanliness throughout and a great manager who took great care of us, I have to give it 5 stars! They even made us a picnic lunch for the road to go visit special view of the Douro river!

One of the most peaceful hotels I’ve stayed at. A very calm environment. Room was small but efficient. If you are North American, don’t expect a big room with lots of extras. What you will get are super soft sheets and towels, a great shower. The bed was a queen..don’t know if there were king beds. Beds a bit firm, one firm pillow one soft. The elevator in the hotel is original so slow. Walk up..then you can enjoy more wine and food. Our room was at the back facing the rail lines. Last train by was about 8:30 pm and 1st one in the morning was 7ish. No other noise. Fairly easy to find street parking. For the day it was about 4 euro. Pay at a street machine. Pay 9-1 and 2:30-7pm ( or something similar) The breakfast was wonderful. Lots of fruit, buns, meat, cheeses and pastries The young ladies at the front desk arranged dinner reservations for us on two nights. They certainly know the best restaurants in town. Very interesting renovation that this hotel undertook. Maintained some original elements and change some. Loved it here

Loved this hotel from the moment we entered. The owner, Alice, was so hospitable when we arrived. She and Beatrice (another staff member) helped us plan two amazing days in Duoro. They booked us two amazing winery tours, a boat tour and dinner at an amazing restaurant. The hotel is so clean and modern with an old world charm with stone walls, high ceilings and mid century modern furniture. I’ve stayed at many high end hotels around the world (Ritz Carlton, Fairmont, Oberoi, St. Regis etc) , and I would say this hotel is a hidden gem in Europe. It is so clean and well maintained. It’s in the heart of Regua , walking distance to the train station and many great shops and restaurants. The breakfast here was amazing too. Fresh fruits, eggs, pastries, cappuccino! For my family and I , this is a FIVE STAR ⭐️ hotel. Thank you Alice and Beatrice for an amazing experience in Duoro Valley! 🙏🏽💕

We were surprised at how well done this hotel is. Beautiful reception and dining area with a little terrace. The front desk service was excellent. While the room was small it was exceptionally well appointed comfortable. Judging by the hotels we saw in the area, this is definitely the place to stay in town and extremely well priced for the quality of accommodation. You won’t be disappointed .
