Sunrise Village Beach Hotel

There are a lot of good things this hotel offers so don't be put off by bad reviews. 4* Greece is not comparable to 4* in the UK so if you are aware of that you will love this hotel. Maria on reception was a real asset to the hotel. She was friendly and knowledgeable and always willing to make sure everything was good for you. We asked to change our room on arrival and it was no problem doing so. The setting and views are wonderful, although the area is very isolated. We had a room with an amazing seaview in the main building with a huge balcony. The beds were comfortable, it's was immaculately clean and the walk in shower a real surprise in the bathroom. There were a few maintenance problems like tapped up wires, no shelves, hooks or towel rails in the bathroom and a lack of storage units but we managed. The beach was stoney but we had beach shoes so no problem. The sea was clear and although it drops down quickly into the water there were no large rocks. The beach was tranquil but more sun umbrellas .and beds were needed for the number of people wanting to use them. The pool was huge and clean but yet again there was a distinct lack of sunbeds, not helped by people out before breakfast reserving them!!! The dining room setting was looking over the bay and you collected your own placemats, cutlery and helped yourself to drinks - not a problem. The food quality was not as good as I expected and it was very repetitive, although we always found something to eat. We took the bus to Koroni and spent the day there. We were rewarded with watching a large turtle swimming in the harbour. We ate lunch over looking the harbour and spent a couple of hours on the beach and swam in the sea. The bus times are not accurate so be prepared for it to arrive when it does! The reason I didn't give Sunrise Village a 5* was because of the lack of sunbeds and the food but saying that I would probably return as we had a good week there.

We have just returned from this hotel and in view of the negative reviews the hotel has received I thought I would write an honest review. There are pluses and minuses to this hotel and I will try and point them out fairly. The first plus is the magnificent view from the hotel, you would have to travel a long way to enjoy a better view when eating your breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is varied and cooked well, it could be warmer sometimes but there is a microwave in the restaurant. There is a Pizza counter, serving freshly made Pizza, don't expect Italian Pizza but they are very tasty. There is also a chef on hand serving freshly cooked dishes. The puddings are freshly made daily and I don't normally have a sweet tooth but I did here. The rooms are clean and I would recommend upgrading to a Deluxe room as the view is amazing to wake up to. The rooms are cleaned daily and we had fresh towels everyday. There was also Tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge in the room. Safes are available and are behind the reception desk, there is a charge for these. We had a problem with our shower whilst we were there and this was dealt with immediately, even though it was in the evening a plumber was brought from Petalidi to fix it. The staff are so hard working keeping everywhere clean and the Reception staff are really helpful. A big thank you to Maria and Chris who were lovely and tried so hard to make everybody's holiday enjoyable. Now to the minuses. The hotel is very isolated, the nearest village, Petalidi, is approximately 4 kilometers away and although mostly downhill there it's obviously uphill back. There isn't much in Petalidi, a market on Friday and a small square with a church and a mixture of restaurants and bars. Please don't be afraid to catch the bus, it stops outside the hotel and once you come to terms with the timings, which your rep will explain, it is very simple. Karoni is well worth a visit, 2.10 euro on the bus and the locals will help you, although they don't speak very much English. The beach isn't great, very stoney, a bit like rubble really. It is also East facing, so gets no Sun in the afternoon. I love going to the beach but it's not a big deal as the pool is lovely. The hotel is very French centric and there is no entertainment for the British people in the evening. The French animation team do try and include the British . We did hear that the management were trying to put some entertainment together for us though. All in all we had a lovely holiday and if you can drive abroad (the roads are very quiet) there is so much history in the area, or you enjoy relaxing by the pool, this hotel is perfect. Please don't be put off by the negative reviews, we can all look for the bad in things !!! It is so sad when the staff work so hard and read poor reviews.

Awful! The worst hotel I’ve ever had the misfortune to stay at! Far from 3* definitely not an all inclusive standard hotel. Filthy, unmanaged, lacking in staff, poor facilities. Average food, makeshift furniture, closed unmanned indoor bar during the day. Pool bar with plastic half filled cups. Poor staff on her own all day trying to do everything. What a mess!! Inside bar area was the same story at night too! Filthy water machine, dirty mat, dinted bin, no cups used by everyone filling their water bottles spreading germs from the nozzle to the bottle & back to nozzle! Disgraceful flooded toilets, no lights, no toilet paper! Most cubicles locked & out of order those remaining were filthy, overflowing, no light bulbs. The Poor staff, same faces left to get on with it with no sign of a manager or a cleaner or pool cleaners! Merkey pool water gave my partner an ear infection! Never seen it being cleaned over the whole week! Limited drinks menu for all inclusive til 11pm anything outside of the menu was extra. Beach was accessed via a zillion steps with broken hand rails & overflowing bins. No drinks bar, 2 mobile toilet cubicles tied together were out of use. VIP charges for old battered sun beds! Rooms were very basic, fridge had last guests belongings still in it. No tea coffee facilities. One old pillow, black mould on the cushions. Floors not swept. Far from a NEW hotel more likely to have been closed for some time & acquired recently. Temp makeshift furniture gathered just to get open.. the hotel was set up for the French, constant French language loud & annoying over microphones day & night. Far from a relaxing break. I have absolutely nothing positive to say other than the few staff that were left to fend for themselves day & night were friendly & tried their very best. I imagine they will all leave suffering from stress & exhaustion.. they deserve a medal. They seriously need to clean the whole place, inside & out. Tidy the gardens, train the staff, add more staff, raise your standards, create comfortable seating areas with air con & clean up the bins throughout the day & night! Or sell up & allow someone else to do it properly! Do not recommend that Jet 2 have this hotel listed at any star!!

Our stay was incredibly refreshing, thanks to the clean and comfortable accommodations. The staff’s friendliness made us feel welcome from the start, and their attention to detail ensured a smooth experience. The room was bright, tidy, and well-stocked with everything we needed. The peaceful environment was ideal for a relaxing break, and the value for money was excellent. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a hassle-free and enjoyable visit. It was truly a great find!

Impressive Show Cooking. The live show cooking at the buffet was outstanding. Watching the chefs prepare our meals right in front of us was a great experience, and the food was delicious. The beach and the comfortable rooms made the stay even better.

The cleanliness of the hotel was impressive. Our room was spotless, and the housekeeping team made sure it stayed that way throughout our stay. The common areas, like the lobby and dining spaces, were also well-maintained. It was comforting to see the high standards of hygiene, especially in these times. We appreciated how clean and fresh everything felt.
