It is my second stay at The White Swan and on both visits we chose a Hideaway Room as they have their own entrance and are spacious. Once more we enjoyed the stay and as well as a relaxed environment the location means you can leave your car and walk around the town whether to enjoy the market, find somewhere to eat or take a train trip. My only negative (and it is probably an issue I have), is that seating in the room consisted of a chaise longue which was very low, and a small basketweave chair which I found narrow and uncomfortable. this meant the only place to sit for me was on the bed. Much as the chaise longue looked lovely, it was rather impractable for two people. Please don't let my comment stop you staying as I DID return a second time and enjoyed my stay yet again!

Went for a mid week lunch whilst in Pickering. The staff were great, advising of delays on food but still being attentive. Flat iron steak was delicious, burger whilst tasty was very difficult to eat without taking it apart. Would certainly go again.

Lovely pub in the centre of Pickering, a couple of minutes walk from the NYM Railway station. We had a very comfortable room in the main building and ate in the restaurant each night. The food in the restaurant was very good and breakfast each morning was lovely too. Staff were all very friendly and attentive if needed. We would definitely recommend staying here and would not hesitate to return.

Food was generally great but felt very unfriendly, atmosphere of an old people's home. Black swan up the road is a breath of fresh air.

What a delight. Lovely old building in the middle of the town with its own sylvan car park. The hotel is quaint and our room was spacious with an upstairs bedroom and a downstairs bathroom and 'living room' with a TV in both. Comfortable bar area and a warm welcome from the staff. One lady in particular seemed to be everywhere and doing everything efficiently all the time, with a smile. A lovely breakfast room and a commendable breakfast menu. especially the boiled eggs and soldiers. Plates could be warmer, as cold be the coffee. Our evening meal was a tale of excellent and a unresolved problem.

The room was excellent large airy and with all facilities including large fluffy towels bathrobes and slippers. The fridge had water and fresh milk a nice touch. Food was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast with a good range of dishes. The staff were very helpful and caring and seemed interested in what we had done during the day. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the staff contributed to this a lot. Thanks Anne and Martin Kelly

We booked two nights here to meet up with our friends and to go on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway lunch experience on the second day of our trip. From the minute we arrived at The White Swan we were made to feel welcome and valued. Everyone was so lovely. Our rooms were great - very comfy beds and wonderfully soft pillows. The bathrooms had lovely toiletries and fluffy white towels. The food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was first class - delicious and plentiful - served by lovely friendly people. I was particularly appreciative of their reassurances regarding my certain food intolerance. The bars were cosy and comfortable - especially the one with the roaring fire on a chilly afternoon. We will be back!

We have stayed here on numerous occasions so obviously enjoy it. We have 3 dogs between us who are made very welcome and supplied with special beds. The breakfast is all one could wish for. This time we had dinner on 2 nights and had excellent meals both time

Delightful hotel with generous helpful staff. I was made to feel very special. There is a however! The building mainly because of its age is not very kind to those who us who aren’t as steady on their legs as they used to be. More could be done. Nevertheless a superb hotel.
