We stayed at the Grecotel LuxMe White Palace from 30th April 2025 for 7 nights. The holiday was booked through Jet2’s Luxe Collection, which promotes this resort as a premium, luxurious option. What we experienced fell well below that standard. Poor communication, broken room features and frozen food are the tip of the iceberg. The weather for the first 3 days was awful, 15°C horrendous rain and windy, whilst we totally understand the hotel aren’t responsible for the weather, they are responsible for the way they respond to poor conditions – the answer…nothing! There is nothing to do when the weather is bad but drink! The hotel is style over substance and cannot cope and should not be open until mid-May at the earliest. *Misleading Marketing & Frozen Food Passed Off as Gourmet Dining* Grecotel Luxme White's website states "fine dining, "incredibly fresh", "gold standard of F&B", “7 World Class Restaurants.” However, a significant amount of the food is “frozen”, including at the “fine dining” restaurant. It was up to us to spot the small * next to each item and look for what this meant at the bottom of the menu where it can be easily missed (and only in English). The statement reads “dishes marked with * have been frozen”. Implying that the entire DISH is frozen, not just the proteins! How can we confirm the quality of this? How is this not the same as any ready meal I could heat at home? What is actually being cooked and what is being reheated?! In the case of the Asia White this is nearly every single dish/protein (see photos attached). Given this is a 5* premium hotel chain, we thought there would be a good explanation. When we queried this at the Asia White, the server told us she “didn’t see the problem and to “just enjoy our evening”. We then asked to speak to the Manager where George stated “this is what the company does across all restaurants” and a casual shrug. The implication here being Grecotel does this throughout ALL their hotels. Only the offsite Agreco Farm Taverna uses entirely fresh food (highly recommended). As we continued to ask questions George treated our polite inquiry about food freshness with disrespect and outright gas-lighting. He constantly spoke over us and asked us aggressively “where do we say the food is fresh?” Given Crete is an island where a local told us he fishes for tuna every Saturday, the inclusion of frozen fish and seafood can only be understood as lazy, cost-cutting methods. The only thing that should be frozen is the ice-cream. Copy menus are attached to this review. The staff’s attitude is to demean guests for asking questions, instead of understanding the concerns as visitors unfamiliar with local practices. It is unacceptable for any hospitality venue, let alone a 5-star resort. Having stayed in many 5* resorts throughout Europe and Worldwide we have never encountered frozen food in any capacity. High volume and demand does not equate to cutting corners. We googled other Grecotels to see if it was
