Piha Beachstay Accommodation

Well organized place to stay in Piha. Many things to do on site and a waterfall just down the road. I definitely plan on staying there again. If you don’t want to cook, check out the bowling club, the steaks 🥩 there are phenomenal. The place is clean and well kept. You will enjoy meeting new people.

We decided at the last minute to stay Piha Beachstay on our last day on the North Island. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer. The Lodge is lovely and another day or two would have given us a chance to interact with other guests. But even if, like us, all you have is one night before leaving New Zealand on an afternoon flight this place is worth the drive. The beach is stunning and you are only about an hour to an hour and a half away form the Auckland airport--so much better than staying at an airport hotel!

Great vibe, great space. A nice oasis that is close enough to walk to piha beaches but is also close enough to walk to several nice hikes inland, including one to the very pretty Kitekite falls. Big kitchen and lounge and lots of outdoor seating and eating space to take advantage of their idyllic private garden. Geoff is a laid back and unobtrusive host but he's right there if you need anything. The tips input box is far too short so I'll include my tip here: Mind if you're driving to Piha from Auckland close to sunset. There's a place about 5-10 minutes East of piha where the road heads directly towards the sun and if the sun is low in the sky, about 1/2 hour before sunset, you come around a corner and can be absolutely blinded due to the low angle of the sun. You can't see anything at all and if you're not expecting it and traveling at speed you must stop dead in your tracks to avoid straying into oncoming traffic or going off the road. And if you're going the other way at this time of day watch for this spot because oncoming traffic could easily veer into your lane with the Sun right in their eyes.

Love staying here when we are in Auckland. Beautiful surroundings of the bush and mountain. Lovely space to hang out in. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. Very clean and tidy, great kitchen. Walking distance to the Kitekite falls. Would highly recommend it.

The outlook is beautiful, the room was lovely and clean. However, unfortunately we got the room next to the kitchen and it was very noisy, not well insulated at all. The kitchen is fantastic and very well equipped. The guy who booked us in was lovely. The only issue we had was that the owner charges 4% surcharge for using a card to pay which is a total rip off, especially when the payment is processed on line by them. The banks do not charge 4%.

Great place to stay at the end of Glen Esk Road near the bush. Easy access to walk to Kitekite falls, and up to the ridge lookouts on recently rebuilt tracks (thank you DOC). Walk to beach. Breakfast with free range eggs from chickens that run around on the site.
