Shepherds Tree Game Reserve

We went here for our honeymoon/ baby moon and it was incredible!! Best experience everything was perfect. I’m vegan and I had so many options to choose from, the chef would make different things everyday no meal was the same and they were all delicious. We saw 4 out of the big 5, Jaihanis was our driver and he was amazing, he knew I was pregnant and took extra care as we were driving around, we found out so much about the animals as he is very knowledgeable and clearly loves his job. The room was amazing we went for the executive suite which came with a pool this was great to relax by in between the game drives :) couldn’t recommend more everything was perfect thank you so much!

We had a phenomenal time at Shepherds Tree Lodge! The customer service is top notch and the staff and so friendly and helpful. We felt like royalty. The food is served as 4 course meal and is VERY good! The rooms are decorated like a high end hotel and are very spacious. We also did archery with the staff and had a ball! Every day we went out in the morning and afternoon to the reserve. We saw the big five and several other animals. Our driver was very knowledgeable and served us snacks and drinks. The landscape is very scenic. I HIGHLY recommend a stay at Shepherds Lodge!! You wo t be disappointed!

From the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble and we were greeted with such warmth and friendliness by each and every member of the team. We were fortunate enough to have an executive suite with private pool, and the room was stunning! The rooms are well spaced out and a golf buggy is provided to transport you down to the main lodge (sometimes a bit of a wait in ‘rush hour’ but no big deal). The housekeeping team provide an exceptional service with turndowns and daily treats left in the room. Every meal was a delight and the craftsmenship and creativity is next level. We said numerous times that the quality was that of high end UK restaurants. Chef Siya, continue the brilliant work! The game drives are not to be missed and we made sure that we attended both morning and afternoon drives to get the best opportunity to see the Big 5. No buffalo on this trip, but everything else and more! The guides are full of knowledge and information about the area and really make the trip exhilarating (especially when trying to seek out a big cat!). Pit stops for morning coffee or evening sundowners are welcomed on the 3hr drive, we loved the Amarula! So many people to thank for our 5* personal stay, but in particular (might not spell exactly right, sorry!): Piet, Izakeil, Mahube, Thapelo, John, Kabelo (restaurant), Oeageng (bar), Gomolelo (front reception), Tolu (guide), our spa ladies, and many more whose names I just may not have seen well enough to catch! We will return in 2027….

We could not have asked for a better honeymoon destination. The view, food and service was better than we could have ever asked for. I have never been fed this much in my life and will definitely return.

Words cannot describe how much we loved staying at Shepherds Tree Lodge. Not just because the rooms (we had a villa) are well designed and very comfortable. Not just because we saw so much amazing wildlife because of guide Peter. Not just because the food is exceptional. Mainly because the staff are incredible, they think of everything before you thought you needed something. They are always checking you are happy but most of all they are lovely people. Thank you to you all.

Amazing staff, food and location / special mention to our Game Driver and Goiti ( not sure if I spelt her name correct) This truly amazing place to stay and especially rooms 31/32 in my opion the villa. And the Game drivers were spectacular/ earlier wake up call 5 am, coffee and pastry 5.30 and set off 6 - 9 wrap up warm it’s cold !!! But the best time. And then repeat in the afternoon 4-7. Final word has to be to our Guide ( Amazing)
