We had a really good time here. We were picked up at the train station and were brought to the hotel. All of this went very smooth. The room we booked was supposed to be smoke free, but it seems someone had smoked in our room and the smell was too much. They were able to supply us with a different room that did not smell. The room was great, it was nice and warm (it was close to freezing at night) and as clean as you can expect. We had breakfast 1 time, the breakfast is 2 types of noodles, some veggies, buns and eggs.

Location nice in old town. Super friendly, they arranged a pickup for us from the station. In the evening nicely illuminated with latern and a small terrace to sit. The (served) breakfast was very tasty.

Good place near the North gate. Friendy staff. Good breakfast and peaceful room. Hot water (shower) was a bit weak. Amazing city.

They were very kind, took me from the train station and even offered me a bottle of vinegar. The breakfast was authentic and the room confortable.

This was by far the nicest hotel on my trip! The staff is very friendly and accommodating, I can highly recommend it. The hotel is very clean and looks awesome, just like in the pictures.

My stay at the Red Lantern Inn in Pingyao was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment I arrived, the owner was incredibly friendly and provided full-service hospitality. I was even greeted with a thoughtful gift of vinegar upon check-in. The hotel is unique and charming, not your typical modern hotel. The reception is located in a shop at the front, but the hotel's name is clearly displayed, making it easy to find. The directions on Trip.com were accurate, and although it’s a bit of a walk from the North Gate, it’s worth it. The atmosphere of the inn is enchanting, transporting you to old-world China. The rooms are simply designed yet very comfortable. The hotel also offers traditional costume rentals for photos, which was a fun experience. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. The owner helped us arrange a bus for sightseeing and even provided a free ride to the Pingyaogucheng Railway Station, despite it being quite far. The car was spacious and comfortable. To top it all off, I experienced my first snowfall here, making my stay even more magical. I highly recommend the Red Lantern Inn to anyone visiting Pingyao. It’s a place that offers not just a stay, but an unforgettable cultural experience!

Nice hotel with beautiful courtyard. Room is cozy and clean

We are impressive for service and welcome drink. The location is good where located in the heart of ancient city. The room is clean, comfortable but the bed is a little hard. If i have chance to come back, I will choose this hotel. Recommend to you!!!

Red lantern Inn gives the best service among all the hotels I’d stayed so far in China. The owner and his wife picked me up from the Train station 20 min away. The location is superb, inside the old city and located just 5 min walk from the North Gate. The Mansion is so beautiful and well kept for hundreds years old building unless you like everything new or modern. The best part is Xiao Lei, the sweet and polite inn keeper who’s extremely helpful although we had to use Google translator to communicate. He goes all out of his ways to do anything to make your stay comfortable and your visit enjoyable. He cannot explain how to but the ticket for the Old city, so he walks with me to the office. He also drives an electric truck to deliver my luggages to the north gate and call the taxi for me to the airport. I’ll definitely come back to stay here if I come visit Pingyaogucheng again. I completely recommend this inn to everyone.

It was an amazing experience to have stayed in an ancient city, it transported us back to ancient China. The hotel has a lovely courtyard and roof top viewing area where you can watch the sunset. Breakfast was simple, just porridge, vegetables, egg and plain buns. It would have been nice if coffee or a hot drink was provided. The lady at the reception was very helpful and the free pick up service from the high speed railway station was great.

A perfect place to stay! The inn was really beautiful, ideally situated quite close to the north entrance and the old city attractions. The breakfast was simple and good, the welcome gift was really appreciated ! We got a free room upgrade and the room was definitely perfect, all traditional with a kang and still really modern amenities ! Definitely recommended !

One of my best stay in China. The Inn is inside the Old Town, has a lot of character and looks very charming. It's also just a little bit away from the main tourist road, which means it's quiet and relaxing. They offer pick up and luggage delivery, which is a plus. The room was very warm, comfortable, with very good shower products too, so it's a great stay during cold days. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Thanks for a lovely stay.
