Conte Marino Villas

I generally don't write reviews unless the experience is extraordinary. Conte Marino blew our minds away by two aspects: 1) the fact that it is beautifully designed in every way and every detail- architects and designers will appreciate this; 2) the incredible hospitality of Despina and Nikolas is unmatched by anyone we know (we have travelled the world) The house is impeccably maintained and located minutes from Chania! The supermarket is less than 2 km away so you're set for supplies. The beach, a few cafes/restaurants and a convenience store are also less 1 km away. A tiny town square up the hill has a quaint local restaurant. Surrounded by orange trees and olive groves, it's a serene house that is perfect for relaxing and spending time with friends and family. It has a welcomed reclusive quality. You are encouraged to pick the oranges to eat or squeeze juice from. The floor plan is thoughtfully planned. The sleeping quarters is separated from the living room and kitchen by a beautiful glassed-in walkway. You can be part of the party or seclude yourself. There is a roof-top terrace off the bedroom that has views of the ocean. You have amazing connectivity with high-speed internet, amazing large screen TV and real sound system. It’s like having all the conveniences of your own house and more! The pool is wonderful for laps. The outdoor seating area is a refuge for hanging out by the pool or for drinks in the afternoons or evening. Despina is full of knowledge of the area and is always there to help or advise. Her attention to detail from luxury bed sheets, coco mattresses to dishes and you name it, is what makes the place a modern luxurious as well as a loved home away from home. Despina does this because hospitality is a passion and a way of life. After spending 2 weeks it was inevitable that we became friends. Conte Marino is part of the magic and aura that makes Crete magical. We’ll definitely come back again.

We stayed 1 week with a family of 6 people from Saguenay, Quebec, Canada at the villa Orangia. It was a wonderful week. Superb reception from Despina on our arrival in the evening and she is very caring and available at all times. Villa with tasteful architecture, high ceiling, tastefully decorated rooms. Outside garden with beautiful orange and olive trees , swimming pool, plenty of space to breathe and relax. Excellent breakfast; freshly squeezed orange juice, lots of choice and varied every day. We highly recommend.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay in a stunning house with impressive architecture and beautiful outdoor spaces. The swimming pool was a lovely bonus, perfect for relaxing. Despina, the host, was very responsive and provided excellent local recommendations.

Despina has created a place that is really unique, furnished with curated items and original artwork. The attention to detail is very obvious. All the needs are taken care of; providing some coffee capsules, beach towels, Starlink satellite Internet, huge TV, electrically retracting sunshade. Her hospitality was excellent with recommendations for places we would not have discovered. One of the best villas we have ever stayed at.

We’ve just completed our 4th year in a row at Conte Marino and, suffice to say, we love it! We are a family of 5, with three kids under the age of 8. We keep coming back for many reasons, but the primary ones are: the Villas are all amazing (we personally stay in Alivia), the team of Chefs and Maids are brilliant, and Despina (owner) is an incredible host! The ability to have a lovely cooked breakfast every morning (bar Sundays) is also a huge plus for us, and is not something you’d get at your average Villa. Location-wise, Kondamari is a small village just up from the sea. It’s super close to Kolymvari, Platanias and Agia Marina, all of which have great restaurants and beaches to explore. Chania is a 30 minute drive, which is straight down the highway and so very easy to get to, albeit parking is challenging. All-in-all, if you’re looking for a modern, spacious, private Villa, with great staff and amenities, and great optional extras like breakfast and private dinners, look no further than Conte Marino Villas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I rarely write reviews and I even more rarely rate something as "excellent" because I often have too high expectations and I almost always get disappointed. But about Conte Marino Villas I am happy to say that all my expectations were perfectly met. I stayed 2.5 weeks with my husband, 2 daughters (5 and 9 years old) and my parents-in-law (both 80 years old). The house offered the perfect space for everyone. There was privacy for the adults and lots of space for our daughters to run around. I liked basically everything in the design and functionality of the house, especially how the long corridor with both sides of glass looking onto the garden provided a perfect separation between living area and bedrooms. In fact we left thinking that if we ever build a house for ourselves we would like to have it like this. Breakfast was prepared for us in the adjacent garden and included every day something typical from Crete. Despina was super kind and provided suggestions and support during our entire stay. She was also incredibly supportive after our departure, when we realized only back home that we had left something in the car rental. She got directly in contact with the car rental company to help, realizing that for us was complicated to do it from back home given our hectic work schedule. We had chosen to come to Crete to enjoy the sea and also to visit some of my husband's family who lives in a village nearby. Conte Marino Villas provided the perfect location to visit family and at the same time visit the best beaches in western Crete. Every day we visited a different beach, and then came back to this dream house to relax. I would love to come back, maybe in October or in April to visit Crete off season. Now we know a home back from home.
