So when we initially didn't get the room I booked (private entrance, double bed) and they said they don't have any other available but this (regular room with double bed and another single bed that made the room so crowded), I thought okay let's not make a big deal out of it. But this place was getting worse every single day, up to a point where I had to check out earlier and go to a different hotel. This rip-off costed me more money for 8 nights than I paid some way better hotels for 3 weeks. Soundproofed rooms are the biggest lie ever, you can hear people from the room next door yelling, listening to music, etc. This was the first time in my life that I couldn't sleep all night because the room next door watched loud TV. Staff gathers in the hallway and yells and laughs in the morning for an hour too. They are also in the middle of renovations (?) so you can hear guys that are painting whistle at each other between two floors & sing. You also get to enjoy the smell of paint and jump over ladders & paint buckets on your way down. The building "next door" (wall-to-wall) is under construction which would be somewhat acceptable if this place had at least windows that could be closed in the hallway. Instead, they have holes with metal gates (?) where you can enjoy sounds of drilling, hammering and construction crew singing, while cement is falling of the building and into the hotel hallway (pics attached). When I couldn't take it anymore I brought it up and they moved me to another room that now fortunately had direct access to the street bar with live music till 2am & motorcycle revving, so the construction noise wasn't that loud during the day, but this picked up during night. Around 6-7 am hotel staff is dragging sun-beds on the concrete around the pool so that will definitely wake you up. Rooms are dirty, stained, old and moldy. There is no ventilation in the bathroom or the room itself, the ceiling fan is not working, and the mosquito net they stated they have - doesn't exist, so you can't even sleep with open terrace without getting bitten by a thousand mosquitoes. You have to ask for the iron, the second room I got didn't even have a hair dryer. As a highlight- this place doesn't even have a security guard, at new year's we came back to the hotel to find a cop baton stuck in the entrance door to prevent them from opening from the outside I am a very frequent traveler, and had no issues with hotels, but this place made me feel like I am the biggest inconvenience, and they are giving me a bed for free so I should just take it and roll with whatever they have going on. Not a single time any of them even apologized for the inconvenience, or showed like they are slightly concerned about the issues guests are having. I ended up raising this issue with Booking itself, they really tried to help and solve the issue, and for that I am grateful. I would advise the owner & the staff to just turn this into a storage facility, because none of yo

I stayed in Hotel Riviera Caribe Maya from the 23 April to 02 May . The hotel is a nice traditional 3 star in the centre of Playa del Carmen . The rooms are clean and spacious with all facilities and a nice balcony it also has a nice pool right in the centre of the garden . Its ideal if you want to be in the centre of Playa del Carmen . Considering that i was in the centre i have to say that at night it was really quiet and had great sleep . The staff were really good however Giada was amazing and would always go the extra mile for the guests . Great customer service and knows all the best spots in Town . The only downside is that the breakfast in the restaurant is not amazing and needs improvement.

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. It is so noisy at night time until 2am the music is so loud from the street. There was mould on wall under the aircon unit in our room. There was an annoying and dangerous small step to get to bathroom that we kept tripping over. There was no hook in bathroom to hang your towel. There was NO hot water, the water only got lukewarm at best. Finally both beds in the room were broken and dipped down in the middle. Last photo show the pool area. The pool was fine, but not sunny, completely in the shade so quite cold, couldn’t sun bathe.

Our third trip in 2023 as we have been going to this resort for last 15 years was wonderful. Christmas and New Year’s Eve buffets are outstanding. Maria Jose Trejo Perez recognized us at checking. She is very professional . Our waiters in the Captain Morgan very super nice and friendly, especially Taylor! The management also remembered we celebrate our wedding anniversary in December and always remember our birthdays with bottle of Bubbly and a treat‼️ One strange thing. We enjoy going to the Ala carte restaurants, La Fuente and La Trattoria. In the past we always enjoyed nice bottle of wine. In the last 3 years, the wines are outrageously expensive. Just an example:Bottle of The Prisoner ( CAD 55.00 or so) is 360.00 CAD. NOBODY buys any wines. We did speak with some staff few time, with no luck. These wines are going to be wasted as they don’t age well long term. Looking forward to our next trip March/ April

This hotel had some good things and some bad things. It had a nice pool/courtyard area, lots of lobby seating areas, the room had a balcony, it had a safe in the room, AC, the maids cleaned the room everyday, and the room was comfortable enough. The front desk staff was very helpful in booking tours and just giving information. The location was really close the 5th Avenue. The bad things are it looked like the stairs had never been cleaned, one day they put very stained sheets on the bed, and I think how could the maid not have noticed the giant stain? and I had to go to the front desk and ask for soap or toilet paper several times, as the maid seemed to not leave us any. It almost seemed like the maid had some kind of passive/aggressive thing going on. Also, as the days went on our towels got more shabby everyday. Maybe she thought our daily tip wasn't enough. The other thing I found annoying is the restaurant had loud music playing until 10:30 pm every night, which came through to the courtyard, so if you sat on your balcony, you couldn't have peace, you had to listen to the music. I would stay here again, but I would check my bed next time before getting into it.

The best thing about this hotel is the location and the staff. You are able to walk to several places that are near the hotel. Basic accomodations are offered as it is an older hotel. I heard that breakfast was offered, but I cannot confirm this because my first meal was after breakfast hours. Only a shower was available in my room with no door to the shower to keep the floor from getting wet. Of course I put the provided towel down in front of the shower. The water only gets lukewarm and I had to run it for over 5 minutes to get it that warm. There is a sign near the toilet that advises to not flush any tissue in the W.C. My balcony faced the pool, this was a beautiful view. One night a family of six was in the pool until the wee morning hours making all types of noise. I put my "do not disturb" sign on my door the same night I arrived. I received a call to my room on the third day, but was busy so I did not answer it. Less than 10 minutes later, I heard my door being unlocked. I yelled out hello and the person asked if I wanted my room cleaned. I told her no. I had to get up and lock the door back. Keep in mind the "do not disturb" sign was still on the door. The next day, I received another call to my room and I answered it this time. Whomever it was hung up when I said hello. Once I left my room for the day, I stopped by the front desk to inquire why someone tried to enter my room and who keeps calling. I was advised that they were trying to clean my room. I told her that I had the "do not disturb" sign on my room so no one would bother me. She was unsure of who called, but told me I needed to pay the environmental tax for my stay. I completed this and told her that I did not want anyone to disturb me. If I return to this area, I would not stay at this property again. I'll try the Fiesta Inn or maybe the Aloft that are nearby.

I stayed with this hotel at the end of April and was incredibly pleased with my experience. The location is right next to the nightlife (while still very quiet at night for when you're ready to rest) and a quick walk to the beach. However, most notable is the staff: the hotel staff is very friendly but hard-working. The customer service is what sets this hotel apart from the many other options, I felt very welcome and at-home despite only staying for a few nights. If you're looking for a quiet place to sleep that is close to everything Playa Del Carmen has to offer with staff that will ensure all your needs are met and more... then you've found it! Food/Drink You can't get much closer to the action than right here at this hotel. It has the perfect balance of proximity to the bars/beach while managing to stay away from the excessive noise that other hotels in the area are surrounded by at night. It is also a straight-shot to one of the more common beach-access roads, next to the locally famous Mamita's Beach Club. There is also a Chedraui (grocery store) conveniently located one block away to pick-up any items you may have forgot to pack for your vacation. Walkability You can't get much closer to the action than right here at this hotel. It has the perfect balance of proximity to the bars/beach while managing to stay away from the excessive noise that other hotels in the area are surrounded by at night. It is also a straight-shot to one of the more common beach-access roads, next to the locally-famous Mamita's Beach Club Safety I felt very safe during my entire stay at this property. There is always somebody staffed at reception right by the front door. At nights, the primary entrance is secured and there is security guard available to assist guests who return in the later hours of the evening.

I booked this hotel through ******* since the pictures seemed like it would be a good and affordable place to stay in Playa del Carmen. Upon arrival we noticed it was not nice at all… stained pillows. Stained bed sheets. Stained curtains. Sticky floors. Dirty bathroom. Dead cockroaches in the hallways that the cleaners wouldn’t clean. And the worst part of it all was that our room smelled of sewer water. We tried to ask for a room change and got told flat out that we couldn’t change and they couldn’t offer any other help other than “sending the cleaning lady”. We ended up leaving after just one night due to the horrible smell that would wake us up at night and was making us sick to our stomach. We tried getting a refund and got flat out told no. This hotel was not what was advertised. The general manager would refuse to give his face and kept saying he was busy. Now I’m out money for a hotel we couldn’t stay in due to it being unsanitary.
