The Common Man Inn & Spa

We loved this place. Tom, the breakfast chef was just a gem. lobby was cozy, staff was very friendly. we met the lobby cat who has learned where to park to get maximum pats. hot tub was stunning. great cozy bar. the vibe was so good. we had an antique wheelbarrow and exposed wood beams in our room. it was 20 minutes to the tram at Canon Mtn, and downtown Plymouth had diners, boutiques and antique shops. we will be back ! thank you, Common Man !

This place has gone downhill so badly it was shocking. Surly employees except for the wonderful woman at the front desk of the “Lodge”. Instead of having a room at the Inn we were told we would be in the “Lodge” down the street which was an Econo Lodge a few years back. Adding red plaid carpeting does not change the fact that the plumbing is old, bedding stained and room smelled. Breakfast the next morning back at the Inn where the lobby chairs and carpet were filthy and powdered eggs were served in a dirty dark dining room. Never again which makes us sad as we had such great memories of a better time.

What a HUGE disappointment. Having previously lived in the Plymouth area I was very familiar with the Common Man family of properties especially the Inn in Plymouth, NH. My wife and I were looking forward to returning to the area to celebrate our 60th anniversary and chose the Common Man Inn in Plymouth. The posted reviews were all favorable so I called and made the reservation and was also very specific to let them know we were there to celebrate a major milestone in life. Well I'm sorry to report that our experience with both most of the personnel and the facility were a HUGE disappointment. Upon our late arrival (they were notified in advance) we got to our room and wanted to turn on the fireplace (it was cool outside and in the room) only to find out (per front desk person) that the gas for the fireplace isn't turned on until September. We then tried the room AC/ Heater and that too did not want to produce any heat. The next morning I did complain to the innkeeper on duty and they did arrange for both units to be fixed and we left for the day. We returned to the room at approximately 5:00 that afternoon and upon entering the room we were hit with what felt like a blast furnace. The individual who fixed the fireplace left the thermostat on at 90 degrees and flames burning brightly. In addition the room was not at all made up i.e. no trash removal, no towel replacement and bed unmade. After 2 hours of high AC cooling and windows open the room finally became livable. Again down to the front desk to complain to which I got a response that blew me away, her response "well the in house repair person probably got called away and forgot to turn down the thermostat and as far as the room well we charge $2.00 / day for cleaning so I'll be happy to credit you the $2.00" So that was just the beginning of the 4 day nightmare. During the 4 days our bed was made up only once and trash was removed twice. Oh, I will add that everyone in the hotel knew we were celebrating a milestone anniversary but management must have forgotten as there wasn't even a note saying congratulations let alone being offered a glass of wine or something in their restaurant. We have stayed at facilities that don't have the same ratings as this but certainly know how to treat guests. The only positive was Lee at the front desk who tried his best to make things more tolerable. I won't begin to describe the weekend morning breakfast fiascos and attempted food charges that are free to all guests. Attached are a few picture of our room 211 showing wallpaper coming off the walls and the beautiful ripped curtains. Bottom line this facility certainly (in our opinion) does not deserve the ratings and is definitely not worth the prices that they are charging. Too many other options for people to choose even if it's a short drive away.

I personally want to thank the entire Common Man staff for the wonderful weekend for my daughter's wedding. From the beginning of searching to the check out, everything was so smooth. Your staff were professional above and beyond helpful and accommodating - everyone! Rooms were wonderful! Front desk, Foster Bar's bartenders and waitstaff, host/hostess, housekeeping, the chef in the Sunrise Cafe. Generosity from Foster's and the chef were very much a surprise and appreciated. The food at the wedding was exceptional and guests couldn't get enough! The events coordinator made everything smooth from planning, rehearsal and on the wedding day. The wedding weekend was a huge success! I would highly recommend planning your event with The Common Man!

We ate here for a group lunch of our travel club. The service was excellent and the food decent. There was, however, no bar available at noon. Our lunch included a fresh salad with large rolls and butter, either salmon or stuffed chicken, veggies, potatoes and, for dessert, a little cup with cheesecake which has vanilla morsels in it and mixed berries. The salmon could have been a bit more well done, but my seatmate said her chicken was interesting as it was stuffed with cheese and spinach and served in a tomato sauce. Veggies were nicely assorted. Dessert was just enough and so tasty. Plentiful lunch. Good-sized restroom with lots to read on the walls! A small but lovely gift shop in the lobby. Beautiful gardens. We did not stay in their inn as it was a day trip but I'd eat in another Common Man again.

I can't say enough good things about The Common Man Inn (we didn't use the spa, but I am guessing it is just as good). From check in to check out, and everything in between. Our room, dinner at Fosters, breakfast the next morning, the overall setting... a unique and rustic inn that truly thinks of everything.

Beds and pillows were not comfortable room was somewhat clean put no housekeeping services and when asked for towels none were ever brought on a two night stay. Yet they charge a daily housekeeping fee! Staff was overall not friendly and we saw 4 different people ant front desk. and 3/4 were quite miserable and did not want to be there. Location was good but other than that would not stay again. Overpriced for what it is.

If you like the 90's country look, youll love this place . Decent hotel with a place to eat and a bar. Has good access to ski areas and hotels start to get crummy further north you go. Suited my ski trip as the hot tub was needed. rooms are pretty much average and could def use a make over from the 90s cluttered wood knick knacks. Banged my leg pretty hard in middle of the night on a bench on end of the bed thats pretty much another useless wooden item in the room . Not a bad hotel but definitely needs to be brought into the 21st century like most of the hotels in the area . But overall id go back

Third time here, everyone here is super friendly and helpful!, especially Abbi at the front desk is so nice, I can tell she loves her job here. Emily at the foster is very attentive too. Debbi, the manager came to our table made sure everything was up to our expectations. The fireplace in the room is very warm and cozy, the hot springs and pool are well maintained. Definitely recommend this place!
