Giritale Hotel

We loved this, others in our party were less impressed - the consensus was that we were lucky with the room allocation. What is undeniable is the view from the terrace - a great place to sit and watch the Sun go down nursing a beer. The restaurant is less impressive- very busy, usual buffet ( though finding chicken in a basket on the menu made us chuckle) feels like a canteen. Thought the staff were friendly and attentive

We stayed in Giritale hotel on full board basis. The staff were cordial and welcoming. They looked into meeting all our needs. The food was excellent. The place was very clean. The lake view and the surroundings were great. We look forward to visit the hotel again.

Rude and unhelpful staff, standing around laughing and looking at us until some locals who clearly understood the language entered which made them suddenly disperse and stop with the jokes. Cocktails small and terrible, food tasteless and bland. Food and drinks overpriced. On second night we tried to enjoy a beer we had bought from the room on the main seating/ balcony area to be told off by the rude bartender about outside food and drink, even though there was one other table of people who hadn’t ordered any drinks and brought their own cake and food. Not close to Sigyriga, terrible location. Hotel is extremely old and tired. Do not come here if you can help it, the views don’t make up for the terrible service.

Actually pretty decent Going into the hotel I was skeptical on the quality of the stay. Although almost quickly I had nothing to worry about. The views as you can see are amazing, and a tip for anyone looking to stay at the Girithale Hotel, try booking a room in the 200s or the 300 (Room 307 is what I'd recommend), and bring a pair of binoculars so that you can see the variety of topical bird and animals. The food, although not offering a wide spread, initially stood out for its quality. I also appreciated the accessibility of oil condiments, which is a convenience I haven’t seen in other hotels I've visited. However, during the Christmas Gala on the second day, the experience took a downturn. Some of the food seemed below par, and unfortunately, one of my family members experienced food poisoning. This was disappointing, especially given the festive occasion. While the first impression was positive, this incident significantly affected our overall experience.

We had an amazing stay during our vacation. The staff was efficient and friendly, should give a special shout out to Mr. Jayathilake and Mr. Manjula who were very helpful and always looked into our requirements throughout our stay. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

This is a great value, beautifully located, 3-star hotel with plenty of charm. The facilities are comfortable (rooms are spacious, views are superb, lots of choice on the menu, pool is nicely located) and the staff are exceptional. The front house staff at the reception are extremely helpful and friendly, all waiters are attentive. The breakfast buffet was diverse, we had many hoppers and some savoury curries. We liked the pieceful and serene location and animal viewing from the Terrace. Great location to explore the national parks and archaeological ruins nearby. Thank you to all the attentive staff!
