Quintessential converted sugar cane mill resort on the side of Nevis volcano with relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Monday night is burger night which attracts locals- do not miss. Thursdays are beach BBQ night at their private beach with live music- magical watching the sun set. Wonderful for a family New Year’s trip with young adults.

This hotel was amazing, loved all aspects of it. The decor throughout was tasteful and there lots of places to relax. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The breakfast had a varied choice, we particularly liked the lobster benedict, this was superb The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, professional and friendly at all times especially Kaddy the singing barman! The private beach was lovely, sandy and sheltered Free Afternoon tea was a nice touch on a daily basis. The Great Room, where the evening cocktail bar was located had a special ambiance and was special. And this was where my partner proposed to me by the christmas tree! Our room, number 11 and then 7, were lovely and spacious, great products and linen We would definitely go back !

What a wonderful property. For those in the know, on Monday nights they offer a budget-friendly $27 'burger night' on the premises (reservations required). The burger variety is nice and it's a lovely dining area by the stunning mosaic pool and historic sugar mill.

I feel that Montpelier is a place where I leave all my stresses and worries behind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the pool and beach and most of all -- the wonderful staff. For me, it is a great place to do nothing -- swim, read, take a walk, have a great meal or cocktail (thanks Kaddy!) We stayed in a Plantation Room with a gorgeous view of the foothills of Nevis and the soothing blue of the Caribbean sea. We did get and and about of Nevis which is a great island to explore but I always enjoyed returning with a refreshing dip in the pool and the soothing cooling breezes. If you are craving peace, relaxation and an escape from a busy world, you will enjoy Montpelier.

After so many good reviews I feel it is my obligation to add some not too biased pros and cons Positive: - The premises and main area and pool are lovely and lush green. I suspect this first impression is the main reason for some 5 star reviews - The owner is here sometimes to chat with quests. The manager is very friendly. The guys at the bar, beach and garden are fun - The room size is decent (though the rooms are quite tired and towels/sheets stained) - The food is more or less OK (unless you are spoiled by good big city chefs) Negative: - This is not a luxury hotel. Please do not expect a Four Seasons experience. You get what you pay for - The beach is a 20 minutes drive from the hotel and it is very basic, so be warned - The staff is only polite and friendly until something breaks. Do not expect help and solutions if something does not work - Card payments do not work properly. Settle your bill the night before checking out so that you do not miss transfer to the airport - No electricity from time to time I hope this helps. As always, managing expectations is key. The trouble with this place is that one starts their experience with the beautiful premises and ends with dripping shower and indifferent farewell at reception…
