19Villamira Heritage Hotel, Puducherry, in the Whitetown area, a few streets from the beach and promenade. A quaint small hotel with beautifully kept old style furniture. The staff are friendly and try to be helpful. This hotel has a small lift. Rooms had the usual kettle, tea/coffee/sugar sachets, shampoo, toilet roll etc. 2 bath towels provided without having to ask I have positive but also negative experiences to share. Our first night we were given a nice room, but with a small window that looked into the stairwell and who's door opened directly into the dining area. This was far from ideal as the thin curtain on the door showed bright light through. It was 5.45am when the consistent talking and noise outside the room started. The hotel advertises soundproofing, which is totally untrue. The noise from guests talking, tv in other rooms, and traffic had already kept me awake until 11.45pm. The breakfast was ok, toast or Indian menu, no cornflakes. We requested a room change for the second night. The new room's door opened onto a small landing and staircase with 2 doors to other rooms. This was so much better than stepping directly into a dining area. We also had a balcony overlooking the street and 2 windows. Other than dogs barking we had a quite sleep. Both days husband had a short hot shower, but when it was my turn only cold water remained. I would recommend this hotel but suggest avoid the rooms leading direct into the dining area and reception.

We stayed at this homely villa on 28th Jan. Location is superb with the flavour of White Town and the famous Promenade beach at a stone's throw. Deluxe room with balcony in which we stayed was a bit small but cosy with decors of antique life. Washroom was also small but cosy. The dining area was adjacent to our room which they allow to use for cooking or keeping food items in the freezer. So the atmosphere was very homely for us. The villa does not have restaurant but arranges good breakfast. Now one thing is to mention here. The cab which they arranged for us to Mahabalipuram demanded Rs. 3500 instead of Rs.3000 upon our arrival to Mahabalipuram. Such cab owner should not be encouraged by Villa Mira authorities.

Writing this review while in the property itself, the property is located at a stone's through distance from the promenade beach, with glimpses of the sea from the balcony. The interior is decorated to a perfection, with wooden furniture and decor. The property provided us with a common kitchen which immensely helped us in cooking our baby daughter's meal ourselves. The staff was extra sweet to even allow access to the fridge microwave and mixer. The home cooked breakfast was very tasty. Tip: from what I saw, the rooms without Balcony is a bit bigger, and nicer as compared to the ones with balcony where we stayed, but it's not a complaint though.
