This place is a health hazard. The units facing the beach are full of mold, black mold. I saw several before staying in a two bedroom. Unfortunately I spent the night in a three bedroom and didn’t realize the mold was so severe until the next day. Save your health, and your money. Go elsewhere.

A group of girlfriends went here last weekend for 3 days. While the place looks luxurious and over the top, don’t be fooled. I will say the poolside bar was fantastic! The pools are amazing. The rooms were nice. But apparently we went during high school band competition season and 4 buses of high schoolers took the place over. Need more security and more chaperones during this. We also lost power 2 of the 3 days we were there. And to top it all off, someone kicked in our door so bad we had to move in another room. We didn’t find anything gone so we’re told it was probably the high schoolers and no police report would be made. In any event with all this happening they were very apologetic but made zero offers of concessions. Nothing. Not free drink tickets, some off the room stay, nothing. Needless to say we will prob not return.

I've been visiting Port Royal since the late 1980s. There has been a marked decline in the facility. We stayed 4 nights unfortunately...when we walked into the room upon check in, there was a large cockroach on the kitchen table, 1 of many we endured. The room was dirty, floors, rugs. The TV never worked. Each night we saw roaches in the kitchen or bedroom. Not sure how this isn't a health dept issue. No need to mention the elevator not working. And this was our 1 excursion we agreed on for the year...never again.

I took my wife for a weekend get-away. Unfortunately, it was pretty cold so we didn't get to enjoy all of the amenities that Port Royal has. There were a couple of negatives with the room...I know it's an older resort but when you walk into the suite, it smelled like mold/mildew. (We bought a candle to fix that.) Doing my normal "hotel checks"...I discovered that the box spring under the mattress had a lot of mold on it that could be seen through the sheet that was covering it. Checking the master bathroom, the toilet had that ring at the water line that shows it hadn't been cleaned/scrubbed in a while. The last negative was that outside walkways and stairs were extremely slippery from the condensation. My wife is from California so she thought the gulf water was horribly dirty until I explained why it's brown looking. LOL HOWEVER, my wife loved the setup and scenery of the Gulf view and dunes from the very spacious balcony and the fact that the room had pretty much everything you'd need for an extended get-away or family vacation. The price was very reasonable as well. All in all, we enjoyed the local area of Port Aransas and even driving on the beach (you can't do that in CA). The trip across the PA/AP ferry was pretty cool, too because there were some very large endangered brown pelicans sitting on the dock post bumpers and lots of bottlenose dolphins playing in the surf.

We’ve been coming here on and off for years, but each time it seems to get a little worse—and this will be our last visit. The property is in serious decline. During our stay, the water was shut off for construction without any warning, leaving us without it for over six hours. Communication from staff was nonexistent. Our condo was infested with roaches, and the elevators were out of service. We were given a $100 credit to use at the food truck and bar, but both were closed—once because an employee didn’t show up, and another time due to the water outage. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

The condo was perfect for my family. Pull out beds were dirty with soiled & worn bedding. Floors were dusty, otherwise everything else was okay. Would stay again. Right on the beach! A local coyote greeted us across the fence every morning with her pups!

Still waiting on refund as after our 7.5 hr drive we arrived to a building that looked like a hurricane had blown thru
Restaurant was a circus tent, looked nothing like the photos …
We stayed somewhere else..

Well first unit we were in had a broken A/C and had a horrible smell. Called front desk who had a Maintenance person come by at 8pm. He looked at the inside unit and said everything looked fine and he would have to go on the roof to inspect the outside unit. Never heard back from him. Finally at 9:30pm I called the front desk again and the lady said the maintenance person just called and told her it was not repairable. I asked what next then she responded by saying well it is 54’ degrees outside. I was shocked by that response. Like I should open a door or something. She offered me nothing for this issue with the A/C. I asked if I could be moved to another unit. Which she finally was able to do that. So we packed all of our stuff back up at 10pm and moved across to the other side of Port Royal. The other unit had roaches in it. We just lived with that. I didn’t want to complain about another issue. After talking to two managers about the no A/C issue they only gave us $100 off what came out about 75 dollars and a 50$ resort credit. I expected to get credit back for the first night at least due to this issue and we have a big family and one being autistic child who didn’t understand what was going on and this was not a way to start a vacation. This place has to do better for families for the price you pay.

The resort has great amentities. All the staff are super friendly from the monent you arrive with the gate guard, to the grounds staff. There is a beautiful, well policed beach. It is a great place to truly relax, empty your mind and live in the moment.
