Decided to stop off here on the way home following a trip to Cornwall. I write this in the bar just having dined and cannot believe the quality of meal we have just had. Thoroughly outstanding from welcome to ambiance to service and the food itself. Well done all.

The worse place we've ever stayed, like stepping back into the 70s, the website is good, witch enticed me to book the " superior" theres not a level floor in the whole place, the toilet kept flushing its self every 25 mins, The bathroom was a death trap so much as if you slipped in the 1950s bath with a shower you would get badly injured, evening meal was like a TV dinner ( £24 a head) rather had slept in my car.

Lovely friendly staff and management we will stay again and again , breakfast was very nice just the right size for us , right in the heart of Porthmadog at the end of the high street with all the shops and cafes within minutes walking distance.

Didn't stay at the hotel, but used the restaurant there. The service was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and very accommodating (for someone as awkward as me with both gluten and dairy intolerances). The food was really quite marvellous; the restaurant's mashed potato with mustard should be mandatory across the nation. Everything very nicely presented in a very comfortable atmosphere. I can recommend this establishment and will definitely eat there again.

For my first trip to that part of Wales I was really pleased with my stay at the Royal Sportsman. Without exception the staff were all very friendly and helpful. My room, a compact single, was very comfortable and well appointed. I had a brilliant evening meal in the bar while breakfast the following was excellent in terms of variety and quality. The hotel is highly recommended and I will certainly stay there again.

Excellent warm welcoming , small and friendly hotel. Rooms so warm clean and sufficient for comfort. Bed so comfy. Outstanding attentive staff for dinner and drinks. Hannah demonstrated excellent guest service. Food quality was excellent. Would not hesitate to rebook again. Highly recommended

Great central location to stay for a golf trip to North Wales. 12 very happy norwegian golfers visited in early november, Good well service, clean and comfortable rooms, great evening meals and Good hearty breakfast. Can highly recommend.

Hotel staff were excellent. Welcoming, helpful, cheerful. Dining room staff were excellent too - great service, good menu selection for breakfast and dinner, good food. Room was clean, comfortable, with good quality linen and towels. Decor of the bedroom was done well as was in the bar and dining room. Location really good for wandering around Porthmadog - visiting the Maritime Museum, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, The Ship Inn, Cadwallader's ice cream shop, and much more.
