Ivyleigh House

On arrival you can see the carpets etc. are very dated and quite well worn . Seen its day . The blurb on websites implies it’s luxurious and superb , sadly it’s far from it. Black mould spots in bathroom. Can hear people in rooms next door . Funny smell on entry. My wife was not at all pleased . Overpriced for what you get. However with accommodation so expensive in Ireland you may have to use here. Cheap toilet paper. Good blackout curtains. Wouldn’t be my first choice in portlaoise but price depending on other places

Really good location, close to railway and town centre. Plenty of parking space. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and well-decorated. We requested and got easy-access room and walk-in shower. The breakfast was fresh and very tasty. Would recommend.

Jerry and Dina run a beautiful B&B. Parking in the back makes things super easy. This stop was important to us because my grandmother was from County Laois. Breakfast here was really special. Local history buffs should check out the library within walking distance.

We had been looking forward to our stay since we booked in May and it was a special occasion so we thought Ivyleigh Hotel would be perfect. Unfortunately we were given the garden room in the basement. There are serious plumbing issues that need to be addressed in this room. The smell of stale urine from this toilet is not acceptable. In hindsight we should have asked for another room. I brought this up with the owner upon checking out. A disappointing experience but we made the most of it all the same. Portlaoise otherwise was superb, we ate in Kelly's Steakhouse, highly recommend, and saw some great music. We will be back to Portlaoise again! We wish Ivyleigh House the best and hope they can resolve their issues so future guests can enjoy their stay.

Myself and my daughter stayed here for one night and we found Dinah and Gerry very welcoming, the location is perfect, the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was so good, lovely homemade breads, beautiful homemade granola, freshly squeezed orange juice. We would highly recommend a stay here

Absolutely beautiful bed and breakfast. Spotlessly clean. Fantastic food and the location was perfect. The hosts were lovely and couldnt do enough to make our stay comfortable. Will definately be back soon.
