Windsor Place Inn

It’s definitely a budget hotel. Room was musty and the condition is sub par. We turned on the heater for a few seconds and it smelled like it was burning. We shut it off so it wouldn’t stink up the room and just went without. The chairs were filthy and in need of a refresh, broken items were fixed with tape, and the bathroom ceiling was growing mold. It’s a bed and a place to sleep, not much else going for it.

This place is very dishonest. I booked a room through Travelocity for a pet friendly hotel. When I arrived, I was told the room I booked was not pet friendly and I would need to cancel with Travelocity and pay for another room that was pet friendly. The front desk told me Travelocity (*******) would call for an authorization from the hotel to refund the charge and it would be "no problem to approve". It might take 72 hours receive the refund, but no problem. Well they would not approve the refund with repeated requests from Travelocity and the hotel manager would not take or return my calls over the next several days. I wrote an email providing details and both receipts. The owner was supposed to receive the email. Again nothing. Travelocity would not refund the charge either saying it was up to the hotel. I am very disappointed that Travelocity would not take care of me. I have used Travelocity quite a bit over many years - no more though. I believe this is a common practice for Windsor Place Inn to take advantage of customers.

Our stay involved booking 3 rooms for 5 people. Our rooms were clean, decor was average...but again, the rooms were clean. I believe, the rooms will be updated in the near future. Beds were comfortable, nice sized bathrooms. DIRECTV worked. Rooms were a little dated, but we could live with that. The pool area was being used for storage....thinking that was because of the recent purchase of the adjacent Super 8. That made the pool something we passed on. Easy access to the hotel. 24/7 coffee and chilled water. Nice common area by the check-in. We interacted with 3 front desk staff and all were nice. Check-in and check-out were easy. Continental breakfast had several basic selections. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay. Price was reasonable. I would stay again.

We checked in to this hotel and checked out 20 minutes later. The first room they gave us, room 108, smelled absolutely awful, like urine mixed with mildew. We also discovered that you could not close the door. We asked for a different room and they put us in the room next door, room 110. This room smelled better and seemed cleaner, but as we walked over toward the window we realize that all of the furniture, like the couch and chairs, was wet and stained a brownish color, as if water-damaged. We went back to the front desk and asked for a different room and they said they had no other rooms available for us. They offered to bring the housekeeping down to the room, but it was clearly nothing housekeeping could do, because it was wet furniture. This was clearly a known problem, because the woman behind the desk said, “yeah it’s because it’s so hot outside.” She obviously wasn’t surprised to hear our complaint and was aware of the issue. My husband explained how we’ve never stayed in a hotel where the furniture was wet, and you can’t really blame the normal summer heat and humidity for that sort of thing. Since they had no other rooms available and it didn’t feel safe to stay in these rooms with our four young children, we asked for a refund so we could try to find somewhere else to stay. They told us that since we booked through *******, they couldn’t refund us, but that we had to ask ******* for a refund. We left the hotel and called *******. ******* called the hotel to confirm that we had checked out and to see what their explanation was, and apparently the general manager told ******* they would not approve a refund because we had asked to switch rooms and the first room’s door was working fine. This was just a plain old lie. Honestly, this hotel is one of the worst we have ever been to, with dishonest management and unacceptable room conditions. I would not recommend staying here.

I would give 0-Stars if this was possible. Was scheduled to stay for a 3-day weekend but at 5am on the day of the trip got very bad news on a family member. Called and explained the situation to see if because of the sudden event, if a cancellation was possible. I was informed about the 48-hour policy, but the message would be given to the manager. I never heard back, so I emailed. I never heard back so I emailed again and called. I was charged 2-nights instead of 3-nights. Will certainly not stay there when we have the chance to go that area for vacation.

My wife and I read numerous positive reviews so stayed here for a Sunday night stay. Ok reception. Room squeaky clean,and very large. Like having a small living room with sleeping area! Terrific mirrors. Tv worked fine. One of the best showers have ever used...tub floor flat and stable with excellent shower head. First floor room facing nearby street but low traffic and no noise problem. Great mirrors. Comfortable beds. Bring your own nightlight. Room very recently renovated and next door room was open and in process of being updated. Did not try very small pool but water was warm to the touch and appeared clean. Breakfast comes with room and we rated it c-. All in one coffee machine put out instant coffee tasting coffee, had to pass on that. Good waffle machine but gave up on trying to get syrup out of nearby dispenser. Prepackaged breakfast sandwiches. Good fruit. Instant oatmeal. Walking distance to Culver's and other restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and would return. Have stayed at 4 or 5 other hotels over the years in the city but felt this was the best for the money. Would give it 5 stars if breakfast improved.
