Sea View Lodge

The Sea View Lodge is a marvel. Our fully equipped self-catered apartment was nested in a tropical botanical garden rich in flowers, humming birds, geckos, bulbuls birds, warblers, myna birds, and big Seychelles tortoises. The lodge is safe. It also has a swimming pool, little bar and restaurant. All with a stunning view the bay. Sometimes, we sat by the sea on their beach chairs for sunset. We went snorkelling around the corner on the right of the bay. They was some nice coral and a wide variety of fish. We also went for walks up the hill or sometimes along the little road. The rooms are clean and the staff friendly and efficient. The beds are comfy and the white sheets nice and clean. We cooked in the kitchen as if we were at home and used washing machine. The owner, Barry, is a personality. He cares lovingly of his little paradise. We were very happy and felt at home away from our home. Some guests came to stay for weeks and months. Possession beach is a small quiet fisherman’s beach. No crowds, beach boys, shops and noisy tourist restaurants here. That’s why we staid there. A little road runs along the beach. The inexpensive public bus can take you to Anse Lazio beach or to Côte d’Or beach, the two main white sand swimmable beaches on this side of the island. The same bus can take you to the national park or the other side of the island. For more freedom and to visit the island, we rented a small car directly from the hotel. All reliable, friendly and simple. We went shopping in the local little grocery shop called Heyday about 2 km away. They had all we needed. For us, this place is a discovery, a new home, and we feel blessed for the time spent there.

Siamo appena tornati da un viaggio di 2 settimane alle Seychelles e le prime 7 notti abbiamo soggiornato al Sea View Lodge (che però tengo a segnalare che non si trova a Baie St. Anne ma a Anse Possession). Il nostro Lodge Breadfruit costruito su palafitte e leggermente in alto rispetto alla strada sottostante, era arredato in maniera spartana ma ad ogni modo funzionale. Magari il bagno avrebbe bisogno di una rivisitazione. L'appartamento è composto di due stanze (una camera da letto e una cucina) più il bagno, ma il punto forte è la grande terrazza con una vista meravigliosa su Anse Possession e Curieuse Island, dove ogni mattina ci veniva servita la colazione nella totale privacy e tranquillità. Noi abbiamo optato per la mezza pensione e, a parte la colazione che forse era un po scarsa come scelta e ripetitiva (ma comunque buona) sulla cena non abbiamo assolutamente niente da dire: il cuoco, un ragazzo Filippino di nome Garry, ci ha fatto mangiare divinamente!! La proprietaria, la signora Gretel, seychellese, ci metteva a disposizione giornalmente la scelta tra manzo, pollo, pesce e gamberi che poi Garry ci cucinava in maniera sempre diversa, e il marito che è un pescator, ci ha fatto assaggiare alcuni pesci davvero speciali!! Noi abbiamo trovato un tempo davvero poco gradevole,ma al di là delle piogge quotidiane, il vero problema era il mare, che era talmente agitato da impedire l'entrata in acqua in moltissime spiagge, a causa del rischio di essere sbattuti sugli scogli quindi per me, che soni andata la solo xchè amo lo snorkeling, è stata una vacanza davvero terribile. L'unico buon snorkeling che siamo stati in grado di fare è stato proprio tra Anse Possession e Anse Petit Couer, nel pieno del parco Marino di Curieuse, perchè lì le acque sono sempre tranquille. A riva purtroppo l'assenza di correnti rende l'acqua meno bella di quella nel resto dell'isola, ma di sicuro, in caso di mare grosso, è una risorsa da prendere in considerazione, e, a d ogni modo , la baia si trova a 10 minuti da Anse Lazio, e a 5 da Anse Volbert, dove vi raccomando assolutamente di fare attenzione ai mosquito xchè ti rovinano!!! La fermata del bus pubblico è proprio di fronte al Lodge quindi comodissima, ma il modoogliore per girare l'isola è di sicuro l'auto. Il Sea View dispone di in noleggio auto molto efficiente gestito da Karl, che ci ha dato anche dei buoni consigli per girare l'isola in sicurezza. Noi abbiamo preso l'auto per 3 giorni a 45€ al giorno. Il distributore si trova a Baie St. Anne, vicino al molo.
