Vecchia Masseria was a wonderful auberge located in the countryside outside of Masseria. Located in an agricultural district, their food preparation was what we call “from farm to table.” This included fruit-filled pastries and preserves on the breakfast buffet. The rooms were spacious and all looked out on a garden area and the hills beyond. One could partake of meals either indoors or outside on the patio. The setting was delightful with an inground pool and gorgeous inground plantings as well as those in decorative ceramic vases scattered about. The setting was relaxing as it presented many opportunities for taking photos of the flora and fauna. We recommend this inn to you.

My complaint is the marketing on the website, especially for the food, exaggerated the quality of the experience. Breakfast was poor more 2 star than 4 star. Coffee was from a machine, juice was watery. Kettle in the room with 6 tea bags, no milk or coffee. Dinner was not worth the 30 euros per head. Meat course was tasteless. Maybe we didn’t research it properly but not recommended.

Very nice rooms The quality of the food although very repetitive The restaurant service was very good The mountain walks Very friendly staff Very tranquil and relaxing pool and terrace Rooms cleaned really well and daily Very nice atmosphere THE BAD Missed evening meal as arrived too late from our flight , no food offered and charged £10 for 2 really poor hot chocolates Very difficult to get a coffee before 730am unless you insist Even when offered several drinks by your host after meals it a real surprise to see them all on our bill at the end of the week Bikes not maintained 5 bikes but 3 with flat rear tyres THE JACUZZI DOES NOT WORK AND THEY KEEP MAKING EXCUSES when talking to guests who were leaving after 5 days they had all complained so i insisted on a room upgrade which they reluctantly agreed to but it did not make up for the jacuzzi as we were looking forward to this and to be told tomorrow for 4 days when we knew it hadn't worked for at least 2 weeks is a con to entice you to book We stayed 21st to 28th oct never worked ounce 7 Days at the hotel never offered a cannoli in Sicily this is very odd Very Bad coffee from the machines, Italians would never drink this in a million years My jacuzzi complaint was dealt with in a very unprofessional manner If you can forgive all the above then overall its very nice

When you arrive at Vecchia Masseria, after a hectic drive in your left-hand drive rental car, you are in awe of the simplistic beauty of the hotel. Despite a seasoned driver in Italy, it always takes a while to remember the rules (none) of the road. We were met by a friendly receptionist who conversed in both Italian and English, during a tour of the property. Initial impressions were built upon and they way they have renovated this place is truly special. Philippe, the GM, was happy to elaborate and provide guidance on activities and must sees. We were invited to dinner and informed it was a 4 course set menu, a little off putting in 30+ degrees but as it was first night we agreed. The food was to die for! A lover of Italian food, my wife an I were eager to add to our knowledge and repertoire and we were not disappointed. Antipasti, all grown and cooked on site was extensive but difficult to resist. The secondi of various pasta's usually involved seconds! Followed by a meat course cooked to perfection. Desserts are not our thing but when in Sicily......normally quite light thankfully! I have to say, too much for us, but we didn't have to eat it, but it was so nice!!! The staff were very friendly and more importantly, happy in their roles, sharing Philippe's passion for this delightful location. The only down side, and I say that tongue in cheek, as it is exactly why I chose it, is it is a long way from any town centres or attractions. We never go all-inclusive because we like to try other foods and visit other places, however, this is one occasion we maybe should have.....? Grazie per averci opsitato, un vero piacere Philippe!

Our group spent one night here. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Our room, 301, was small but nice. The shower in the bathroom was the biggest we’ve had in all our previous hotel stays. Food was delicious both at dinner and at breakfast. Would have liked coffee available earlier.
