Grand Hotel Palau

This hotel is up a steep road but has good waterside views from its front. I took ages to be checked in. I had to carry my suitcase up 18 or sovstone steps to receptoon, and then up an uneven spiral staircase of local wood to the room. Part of the staircase lacked a handrail. No doubt the owners love it but a lift would have been far more practical. The hotel lacks a pool, unlike the Palau Hotel that the tour organiser had said we were booked in. I avoid group tours but had no option if I wanted to travel on Sardinian trains as independent travel is impossible on some line sections due to trains only being available for special runs. Aircon, WiFi, the shower and hot water were all very good. The hotel had booked our coach driver to share my room. Not acceptable! I had this sorted. The breakfast was fine. Linen was OK. No tea, coffee or kettle in the room. A bidet was in the bathroom along with shampoo. The lack of a pool and the ill-advised spiral staircase downgrade this to 2.5 stars. Not 3 or 4. The hotel is building a few more rooms. A pool ought have been the priority. The staff's English was poor to fair. Amazing in a locality that relies so heavily upon tourism.

Don’t know why this hotel has a 4 star rating to be honest . Basic in every way . We arrived and we’re given our room l- very small and not really laid out well bathroom was as big as the bed space . The window was small but had a nice view over the harbour . However you couldn’t sit and look out . The steps to the hotel were right outside and the curtain didn’t cover the entire window . The shower door was broken and the dirt under the rim was not something pleasant . We went back to the reception and mentioned it The man came and looked and said it was grand this morning and that we broke it We were told we could leave if we wanted to - however he did eventually give us another room and asked us to look at the shower see was it to our standard !!! It’s not a hotel t relax on really just for sleeping -unfortunately we had 3 nights here No pillow protectors on pillows No water or tea / coffee available Wouldn’t recommend it there are plenty of other hotels in the same area Do your research

Arrivati alle 22 di sera, scopriamo che non c’è alcun posto nel parcheggio coperto e che anche in strada è difficile parcheggiare. Veniamo accolti da una lunga scalinata, senza ascensore e senza l’aiuto di qualcuno dell’albergo per salire i bagagli. Stesso discorso all’interno dell’hotel, si sale al primo piano senza ascensore. Stanza è una bat caverna fredda e umida, abbiamo acceso il condizionatore per riscaldarla e riportarla ad una temperatura accettabile. Letto scomodo e bagno che emana una puzza insopportabile. Colazione scadente, tutto confezionato e cornetti congelati, nessun servizio.
