Hostal Tongo Reef

From the moment we arrived at the Tongo Reef Hostel, I knew our stay in San Cristóbal would be exceptional. I traveled with my sister and niece, and we all instantly felt welcomed by the warmth of the owners, who treated us more like members of their own family than just guests. The hostel is located in a privileged position, just steps away from a charming beach inhabited by sea lions and their adorable pups. The proximity to this natural wonder added a magical touch to our stay. The rooms at Tongo Reef are a true haven of tranquility and cleanliness. Every corner of the place reflects the care and dedication of its owners in maintaining a neat and cozy environment. Additionally, the wifi worked perfectly throughout our visit, which was essential for sharing our experiences with friends and family. But what really distinguishes this hostel are its spectacular breakfasts. Each morning, we delighted in exquisitely prepared local dishes, full of flavor and love. It was a true immersion in the gastronomic culture of the Galápagos. Furthermore, the owners were incredibly helpful in offering us recommendations for exploring San Cristóbal and even other islands in the Galápagos. Their advice greatly enriched our adventure in the islands. In summary, Tongo Reef Hostel is not just a place to stay; it's a home away from home. Very nice hostal, modern, very clean, very confortable room with all you need. 5 minutes walking from the center. Let's go to the negative point. The director Philip, was not really a nice person, not at all available for the needs of the guests. The first night I realized that the light of my room was not warking. I text Philip to repair it. He came 1h after and told me it was late, that he will have done it the day after. The day after nothing was done, I text him again and he proposed me to change the room. I told him that, as it was evening, I could keep the same room, but I asked him to repare it the day after. The day after again nothing was made......3 days to repare it, nothing was done. Finally I asked to leave the room just 1h later, a courtesy in exchange of the technical problem.....and the answer was NO. But I have to say that his mom was very nice with me (but not with the very kind housekeeping), the let me use the kitchen to cut some fruits and she offered me some delicious fruits of its Finca.
