Hotel Costa Calero Thalasso & Spa

The hotel is dated in parts and our room was a little tired although it was a superior room we overlooked wasteland and nort a sunny sea view we expected. However, the room was clean and the public areas spacious The staff were friendly and reception efficient

We had a very warm welcome from the reception staff and were lucky to find our room was ready when we arrived around 12ish.We had booked the prestige package and had a room on the 5th floor facing the sea. The room was very pleasant, spacious, light and looked like it had been recently refurbished. The hotel is beautiful. The iced bucket drink and gifts in our room when we returned around 6 were very nice. We immediately checked out the area finding 4 pools, 3 are more children oriented and the 4th is a larger pool further away from the restaurant and snack bars. This was definitely the quietest but there were still a few families using the pool. However, we also found as with previous reviews a serious lack of umbrellas but I also know that this is a situation that the management are working really hard to improve. Don’t worry about getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve sun beds, the hotel was full but there’s absolutely no problem finding any throughout the day especially around the adults pool. The groundskeepers in the morning impeccably keep the area clean and tidy. Breakfast and the evening meals were served in the main restaurant; as prestige guests, you could choose to sit inside in the designated seating area or in the smaller outside area. The lunch area is shared by all in the lower restaurant found by the pools. The food choice was very nice, always fresh and varied - they really did cater for everyone. At lunch, you help yourself to beer, sangria, wine and soft drinks or order other drinks at the bar. It would be nice to have an adults only prestige section but looking at the size of the area, I don’t think that will ever happen. The prestige package also came with a separate lounge and balcony which was well stocked with branded alcohol, coffee and snacks. Shame it didn’t have view as it was situated on the ground floor but it was still very nice. Unfortunately, the evening meal service for the first few days I can only describe as being very poor in the prestige area. We liked to have food around 9 which gave us until 10 to eat, nowhere near the time that service closed. Let me make it very clear, the following has nothing to do with the staff but unfortunately falls under bad management. On three occasions only one person was looking after the indoor/outdoor prestige area. Upon entering the outdoor area one evening, we were asked to eat indoors as there were no tables set. On that occasion we were insistent that we eat outside as that is a big tick for us when looking for a holiday. The stressed overworked waiter then made up a table for us clearing a used table. Another occasion we wanted to sit on the comfy corner tables but again none were set after previous use and the waitress refused to reset the table insisting we sit in another part of the outdoor area. I remind you it is not the staff’s fault but management really need to look at this judging by previous reviews which constantly repeat these concerns. One

Just come back from a lovely 2 week holiday at the Costa Calero. Firstly, there is not enough staff at the bars and in the restaurants. Nowhere near enough. You could be queueing for 20 minutes sometimes for a drink in the entertainment room, which isn’t good. Sometimes only one member of staff serving. Plates left on tables in both restaurants for the whole meal sometimes, and we had to stack them up and balance them precariously on the edge of the table. Took a while to get served for drinks at evening meal times. The larger groups of people seem to take priority over couples. (This was also a problem last time we came 2 years ago). However, the Hotel grounds are spotless. Cannot fault any of the staff, all work incredibly hard, and they do have a lot to put up with - some of the guests can be incredibly rude! Special mention to Hector in the entertainment room, and our cleaning lady Ana, she was lovely and did a brilliant job. Food is what you’d expect at an all inclusive, sometimes a little cold, but all perfectly edible. Entertainment at night was good, and they had a couple of excellent acts on (Keep Dreaming and Gentlemen of the Road) We still had the best time, the staff they do have are a real credit to the hotel, and it’s still my favourite place in the world!! We will absolutely definitely be back. I just hope they sort the staffing problem out before then.

Lovely peaceful, spacious hotel and spa, we took the prestige package, well worth the money, the food and drink was all top quality, the wine rose was so lovely we bought it at the airport €32, that an expensive wine for all inclusive. The staff were amazing, very helpful, and always busy. The restaurant manager was very hands-on and wasn't scared to roll up his sleeves and help the staff . All this made for a wonderful visit ,where the attention to detail was superbly executed.

I meant to leave this review after my stay but better late than never. I loved my stay at Costa Calero. The staff were all superb, I felt I was treated like a VIP from arrival until the day of departure. My room was comfortable and spacious with a huge balcony overlooking the sea. The hotel and grounds are clean, well presented and picturesque. I hoped to return in March this year but couldn't find the 'all inclusive prestige' deal I wanted. I'm not bothered about alcohol, the spa is the draw for me so rather than have to be 'adding on extras', I opted for an alternative choice. That was nice too but overall, I preferred Costa Calero. I'm so excited to be returning soon, having found suitable dates offering AI prestige. The only criticism I have is that the spa is the only part of the hotel that doesn't have a lift. Access is down to/back up a flight of steps which makes it inaccessible to physically disabled guests. I have a severe lung condition so found access difficult, although thankfully, not impossible. This is something I feel should be disclosed on the hotel/spa description.

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel. The dining rooms had been refurbished and are lovely and airy. Proper linen on tables for dinner. Rooms are fresh and bright, comfy beds and great bathrooms with wonderful showers. Stay are friendly and helpful and all work extremely hard to accommodate guests. Food is good, we found it was better to eat late 9 ISH as queues for cooking station had diminished. Sunbeds are plentyful and 4 pools, one dedicated to inflatables, a large free form pool, a swimming pool and a decent size baby pool. The only downside is the lack of umbrellas for shade. Many are missing or broken. I counted 27 missing from the area around the large swimming pool. I had read previous reviews to say the management would be looking into this. All we saw were broken ones being removed and none replaced.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday at the Costa Colero Thalasso & Spa. Firstly this hotel is simply beautiful, the grounds are so well maintained and the flowers, palm trees and gardens are just stunning. Upon our delayed arrival from Manchester, we were greeted with 2 lovely people on reception, who quickly checked us in and even provided us with a bag of food as the restaurant was now closed. Upon entering our gorgeous spacious room (Sea view room 255) we were met with a lovely view of 1 of the pools and the sea beyond, the rooms were spotlessly clean and had everything you need (no it doesnt have a kettle or iron but i dont go on holiday to make my own tea or do my ironing, if you need this to make your holiday a happy one, I suggest packing your own or i believe you can hirer them). We stayed for 10 nights, my husband & our 3 year old daughter and my 2 parents (in their 70's). The food for the duration of our stay was wonderful, a very good choice at breakfast, lunch & dinner with show cooking at all 3 meals. The reviews that state no choice when you have at least 4 choices of potatoes alone astounds me but as they say you cant please everyone. Yes like all "All inclusive" it all gets a bit samey after a week but i would say if you are very fussy and hard to please then go B&B and eat at your chosen restaurant. There are some lovely restaurants on the Marina, we ate at Bollywood and had a fabulous Indian and also at Finnegans which was fantastic, just to see a little of the place really. The only very small negative (and this is purely for us a family with a small child) is they dont really cater for children, the food they do but the evening meal was at 7pm which is a little late for our little one, she got used to it, also the entertainment, the mini disco was at 9.15 which also is a bit too late but that's only our preference. We met some lovely fellow guests which just made our holiday even better. So to wrap up, this a fabulous hotel, lovely food, wonderful staff in a beautiful location, we will definitely return.

Lovely hotel, quiet location. We went as a large family group and found the hotel really nice. Rooms were clean and spacious. Food was great. Plenty of sun beds with a choice of pools. The hotel staff were helpful with the exception of the guy who checked us in who wasn’t keen on actually showing us to our rooms when we couldn’t find them when we got there after midnight but did eventually. The harbour is a 5 minute walk away down hill, the walk back may be hard for anyone with mobility issues but it’s a lovely place but not much there just a few bars and restaurants. Free bus provided into Puerto del Carmen by the hotel but I think the times of this could be spread more regularly over the day but they will arrange a taxi for you. Overall I would recommend the hotel if you’re looking for a nice quiet break away. Don’t bother with All Inclusive Prestige it’s really not worth the extra.

Well all I will say is this hotel is average . Tired in some areas and the sewage smell is t pleasant round the hotel especially round the pool. Firstly the good points . Staff are friendly well most of them . Beds are comfy shower in the room is great . 3 English channels on TV Free bus to portur del Carmen is good went there a few times got it at 10 came back at 1.15.My daughter was so happy she got some decent food at McDonald's as he hardly eat on holiday Food is hot if you get there bang on 7 for tea and 7.30 breakfast .Pools are brilliant and clean . Bad points when you arrive on the first day nobody helps you to find your room . The food is ok very repetitive over 2 weeks and is soaked in cheap oil and very salty . I would say there is an ok choice but not one of the best hotels for variety . Sunbeds round the pool bit dirty and so uncomfortable. I never knew when I booked my holiday that half board you have to pay for you drinks at tea time .I feel that your not treated the same if your half board over the prestige customers ..Over all I wouldn't come here again there is nothing here only a supermarket that's tiny and a few places to eat .
