Hotel Riu Paraiso Lanzarote - All Inclusive

My travel agent wife has booked many people to this hotel over the years so we decided to check it out ourselves. First impressions were very disappointing. As many people have stated this is 2 separate hotels now connected by a walkway. First was the massive walk from reception to the “quiet “ part of the hotel. As we opened the door to our room we were greeted with a very disappointing location and view. We asked to be moved but were told there was no other rooms available. All week it was a long walk to the main part of the hotel where all activities, kids club, main restaurants and bars were located. Bit of a pain. The rest of the holiday was very good, rooms and grounds were immaculate. The hotel is in an excellent location for the beech. Food and drink was good. Bit of a free for all at meals times but that’s what I’d expect an all inclusive. The things that I will remember most fondly from the hotel were the excellent staff and especially the kids club. Our little lad had the time of his life.

We stayed in this hotel for the second time and are already booked to return in September. The hotel is in the perfect location, a short walk to Puerto Del Carmen one way or Matagorda and the airport the other way. We paid for a sea view and were given a lovely beach facing room, but unfortunately it was very obstructed by trees. We were also the furthest room from the entrance which was a bit inconvenient for us. It would be fine for guests who stay around the pool all day , who can enjoy the quiet pool and bar/ snacks, but we go out all day so the facilities are closed by the time we return. Also my husband cycles so had to walk his bicycle a long way to the entrance in cleats , which made unnecessary noise for other guests at an early hour. We found the room to be very clean although the shower gel and handwash had not been refilled when the room had been cleaned. The bathroom was large with decent shampoo and conditioner but the shower temperature could be variable, which would go from warm to very hot quickly. The food in the main restaurant was very good indeed. We enjoyed the breakfast and choices in the evening. The show cooking in the evening was exceptional, whole chickens, fish, ribs and steak were all delicious. Pepes seemed better than previous visits but really is just fast food which is not appealing to us. The bars generally have plenty of space downstairs but it is a shame the smokers have all the outside seating. These are situated too close to the inside areas so the cigarette smoke wafts in. Service here is very good considering how busy it can get. There is always some good entertainment on downstairs. The upstairs bar is a lovely peaceful area with good service and a great choice of drinks. The cats in the hotel provided much entertainment, especially the cat in the main reception whom we named ‘Le Jefe!' Overall a very nice stay, if we had a better situated room and put the smoking area further away , it would be much improved.

We have had 14 nights at this hotel. The hotel is in a good area. This was 2 separate hotels now both are under the same name. The main restaurants & the entertainment are all in 1 premise. This causes the sun beds to be very close together to cater for the number of guests.. The main entertainment room is not big enough to hold nearly 1 thousand people who are here at times. There is not a bar in this room & chairs are very close together. There is also entertainment in the bar area including some of what is the area during the day. They do provide a number of heaters but because the area has so many open access points it's very cold & draughty most nights. The staff are extremely friendly & all do their very best. In the dinning area we have to mention one waitress in particular Alicia she helped us on numerous occasions. The food was OK but could have been hotter. It doesn't help because the plates are at the very best warm never hot. This doesn't happen at other Riu hotels holding the same number of guests. We have got to say its not an hotel we would come back to. Doesn't fit the standard of other Riu hotels.

I am very satisfied with the trip, hotel, buffet, cleaning everything was top class. The only thing that wasn't top notch was the entertainment.

Great hotel and staff. Entertainment was good haven’t laughed so much in years. Rooms nice and big and cleaned daily. Only thing I didn’t like was how close the sun beds were to each other also both smoking areas were right by the doors and close to the snack bar.
