Overview: A dated, run down Westin with serious customer service issues. But nice pools and lounging. Arrival: Arrived by car. Helpful porter. No valet. Check-in:The regular front desk was closed the day we arrived. Check-in was moved to a back office. The process was one of the worst, mind boggling check in processes ever encountered. Took over 30 minutes waiting and for the actual check in process. Leonel assisted us. Very hard to get yes/no answers from him. Example- can we use the app to check out? Had to ask 3 times to get a "no" from Leonel. I encourage Marriott/Westin to send someone to experience the dysfunction of check in at this Westin. Room (1121): A decent junior suit consisting of a large couch, breakfast table, medium LG TV, and king sized bed. The balcony was nice and included two quality lounge chairs and a private hot tub. Unfortunately, the hot tub didn’t work. We called for maintenance, it briefly worked, then failed. When it worked, it was very tepid, and we had some water safety concerns. Also, the patio looked like it was not quite completed- there was a large temporary drywall panel covering the plumbing lines for the hot tub. If you have kids, this would not be safe. Bed: above average king bed with above average linens Sleep quality: very poor sleep quality because the hallways transmit and amplify the sound of closing doors. The room design was backward too, placing the bed near the door. Bathroom: Large bathroom with walk in shower and large freestanding tub. Decent water pressure. Freestanding tub leaked all over the place. Service: Overall spotty service ranging from complete indifference, to less than honest, to pretty good. Example of less than honest- we received free drink vouchers at check in. So on our second day, we stopped at the bar La Cascada to redeem our vouchers. The vouchers had no restrictions and stated they were good for Westin cocktails. We sat down, and the drink menu matched the wording on the vouchers. So we ordered some Aurora Borealis cocktails (a great tequila and ginger drink). After we had our drinks, we presented our vouchers (the vouchers contained no instructions or restrictions). Our server would not accept the vouchers. She claimed she used premium ingredients and that the vouchers didn’t cover anything premium. We pointed out vouchers had no restrictions and that the wording on the vouchers matched the drink menu. We argued back and forth, and eventually the vouchers were honored. Example of complete indifference- see comments earlier about the worst check in experience imaginable. Example of pretty good- checkout was actually fast. Pools: dated but large pools, not 100% clean (noticed some debris each day, missing tiles, and some moldy areas) but better than average Beach: Small beach areas with fishing boats parked 70 feet from the beach. Beaches were not good for having fun in the surf. Rather steep drop off with some random currents. Restaurants: two on-site restaurants (see
