As I have stayed at other RIU locations and always had an amazing experience RIU REPUBLICA IS HORRIBLE. On the day of arrival my shower and AC were broken I called the front desk several times and also had to go down to the lobby for them to finally send someone to fix it after two hours . Friends who were also traveling with me had broken air conditioners in their rooms no one ever came to fix them ,took 3 nights for the hotel to accommodate them and change their rooms.The hotel is filthy from the hallways,rooms and pools. The whole resort is one big sauna very hot and uncomfortable especially in the lobby and bar areas. This hotel is like one big frat house catering to college kids so of course they don’t know any better.. please do not listen to any of the good reviews because they are all lies if you are thinking of coming here please do yourself a favor and don’t .

The worst experience ever. The room keys stopped working by the end of each day. We called for the tv to be fixed because it wouldn’t turn on from day 1, still waiting for someone to help 3 days later. We called for towels no one showed up still waiting 3 days later. The bed didn’t even have bed sheets on it. The shower was atrocious filled with mold. I wouldn’t recommend this resort to my worst enemy that’s how bad it is.

Property pictures are a bit deceiving. Also, food selection is not great at all. Even though we tried to give everything a try we ended at the same spot with limited options. We booked an Ocean view room and all we got is a view of a lot of palms and I guess what they consider ocean view, not worth the extra cost. The entertainment was ok but I think it all depends on your age and expectations. One positive thing was the staff. They were very nice and helpful. But personally would not, not come back to this resort.

This has to be hands down the WORST resort I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve stayed in many rius in Cancun/ America all around. The food gave me virus. All 7 of my friends caught the same virus and when we went to get checked out at the hospital they charged us 1000$ per person tor just a checkup. The service isn’t even talkable about since it doesn’t even exist. I called for many things, cleaning service never came, Called for fresh orange juice and salt bcs I wasn’t feeling good I had to call over 5 times wait 4 hours and still not receive anything. All the doorman’s when you get to the hotel will ask you for food or for tips and the taxis provided by the hotel will try to rob you for a extra amount of money. HANDS DOWN WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I wouldn’t come back to this resort even if they offered me a free penthouse with ocean view with lobsters wagyu wtv. 💩💩 trash resort 0/5

My room was dirty. They bed sheets were dirty, water was leaking from the shower and the air conditioner was not working. They put us in another room, but honestly I don’t know what was worse, the shower did the same in this room but this one also has a leak in the toilet area coming from the room above us . Our toilet was always wet from the leak above. They food was not great at all. Most of the bartenders and servers were very nice. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

This property was the worse riu that I have ever stayed it. I arrived and received exceptional service at the front desk. Once I got in my room. I noticed the mini bar was not stocked and the refrigerator was not working, as well as the liquor in the room was completely empty. I noticed the front desk they came the next day to refill the refrigerator which was still not working so now I have no cold beverages with empty liquor bottles. The air conditioner in the room was also not working as I expressed to them and someone came to check on the second day and still not working. As it was extremely hot on the resort. On day two I complained and told them my room will need to be switched and was told the resort is full so we can’t switch you to a room. There was no accommodation at all again I was told someone would come and check and no one come. So three days I couldn’t sleep in the room I paid for because it was extremely hot with no cold beverages because the refrigerator still was not working. Day three I ended up speaking to a manager and he said he would check personally and then they decided they could change the room. Needless to say room was changed and I found a bed bug on the bed. Sheets were extremely dirty it was ridiculous. The service from day 1-3 was very poor. I had one waitress Juana she was amazing always took care of us in the buffet. This is not a place that you want to go. The soda machines weren’t working. This place is horrible and disgusting. DON’T GO!!!

The room smelled like mildew very bad!! Resort does not have washcloths. Hand towels were dirty. Curtains were badly stained. Jassin at customer service has the WORST attitude!! Not a lot of food choices or good food period. Housekeeping came into the room numerous times without knocking. All the music played was for Spanish speaking visitors. Very bad experience. I ended my trip a day early.
