Me and my partner have spent the weekend at this campsite, this is our second time here. The showers and toilets are clean and it is a lovely cosy campsite. You can walk into Swanage - it is a nice and easy walk. Our family came to meet us at the campsite and then we walked into Swanage! The campsite itself has a lovely view from the sea view camping and is surrounded by lovely fields and hills which give a lovely atmosphere! The staff are friendly, kind and helpful! There is a shop which is open too! It has all the facilities you expect to find on a campsite! Thank you Herston! ️

We first visited the Herston campsite about 10 years ago and had a caravan there for our rather large family - 5-7 children, 5 adults and 2 dogs. The staff there are very friendly and helpful and we loved the area in scenic Dorset. The site is a 20 minute walk from Swanage’s 3 lovely beaches. The National Trust’s beautiful Studland Beach is a short drive away and then there’s England’s own Riviera Poole just over the estuary of course ! After our first holiday there we looked at the log cabins on the site which are great but we fell in love with the Farmhouse with its large garden and family hot-tub and have been going there every year since ! It’s our favourite holiday in England and it could easily become yours too !

I recently stayed in the glamping tents at Herston Campsite for a Hike2Heal trip organised by a charity. I could not fault the campsite. It was set in a lovely rural location with the sounds of nature - sea waves and steam railway and birds. Each tent was provided with logs and kindling for the chilly nights to toast marshmallows round the fire pits, I thought this was a lovely touch. Beds were comfortable and showers were showers!! The site was very clean and the burger van on site provided tea / coffee / meals and snacks was top notch and well priced. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you xx

We went as a large group for two nights as we were doing a coastal hike and stayed in bell tents it was absolutely wonderful. The tents were cosy and immaculate with little lamps and beds. The facilities for toilets and showers were spotless and well stocked with toilet roll and hand wash. The food you can order was beautiful and we were so grateful for a hot breakfast and dinner! The fire pits and wood provided were a perfect touch and we have already decided we are returning. Absolutely fantastic experience can’t recommend enough!

We had a fantastic stay at Herston Caravan and Camping! The site has plenty of open pitches, which made it really easy to find a good spot. Communication with the team was straightforward and helpful from start to finish. The facilities were excellent – the toilets and showers were always clean and well looked after. The site itself was impeccably kept, and from the Sea View field we enjoyed a beautiful view of Swanage at night – a real highlight of the stay. We also loved that there’s a walking path straight into Swanage, and the nearby steam train is a brilliant bonus, especially if you’re travelling with family. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly – it was very quiet at night, and everyone on site seemed welcoming. A real bonus on site was the burger van – the food was delicious, freshly made, and it even offered some excellent vegetarian options, which was a pleasant surprise. All in all, a really enjoyable stay – we’ll definitely be back!

The Pizza restaurant, Major Munchies and proximity to Swanage were good. The site was a bit crowded with individual pitches too close together. The facilities were a bit tired. Hard standing turned out to be gravel rather than tarmac. The 1.5 mile walk into Swanage was pleasant and took about 30 minutes. There is a local halt on the Swanage Railway line, but it is scarcely closer than the main railway station. The site Major Munchies was a pleasant way to buy breakfast. The local “Coastal Crusties” Pizza restaurant (hidden on a business park on the way to Swanage) was pleasant and reasonably priced.

Great location but that's where the positives end...The whole site was scruffy, unkempt and badly in need of TLC, toilets were grotty, no hand towels in any of the toilets used. New bar and pool under construction apparently but probably should sort the basics out before investing in new faciltities. I don't mind rough and ready if the cost reflects this but it didn't, priced the same as much nicer sites.

On approach the areas where dirty and run down. Old look to everywhere. 5 toilets with shower. dirty.... to share with two fields of campers and the bell tent field. Utterly dissatisfied with stay for the cost.

This was booked the night before arrival although I shall never pay upfront again until I view the site as it didn't look anything like the website. Good welcome on arrival although the other person in reception didn't speak. Directed to site and first impressions were untidy. Discarded barbecue and pegs were left on our pitch. Toilet facilities were unclean and the ladies toilet was un-lockable. Due to a family emergency we had to leave the site and called them and then emailed three times explaining why and whether they would consider a refund in the circumstances (although I knew this was unlikely as in T&C). Therefore we part unpacked and repacked and left. I had no response whatsoever from my emails which is very poor customer service. I would not recommend this site.
