Booked with Jet 2 holidays who rated the hotel as 4 stars. Having experienced 4 star rating hotels on several occasions, we were surprised and disappointed to discover the Dom Pedro Marina fell short of the standards expected. We were allocated a room in part of the building which did not get any direct sun at any point of the day. The view from the room was poor overlooking another building behind two huge trees. The room itself was tired and in need of an upgrade. The ceiling panels above the shower actually, noisily, moved with gusts of wind. The extraction fan in the toilet did not work leaving condensation after showering. When reported to reception, we were told there is no extraction fan in the room. When pointed out that there was indeed one the receptionist said he would report the fault. The fan was not repaired during our stay. Bed linen was not what you would expect for a 4 star establishment. The covers were hard (starchy). The balcony was tiny, just over 6’ x 5’ with plastic table and two chairs, which have seen better days, squeezed in to it. Not that we used the balcony as there was no sun shining on it!! The air condition could not be regulated. Choice was ice cold air or off. Do Jet 2 actually inspect the rooms they are allocated and if so how can they justify a 4 star rating? On the plus side the staff, housekeeping, breakfasting, bar, were very good, being pleasant and attentive. Breakfast buffet was adequate. Pool area was good with plenty of sunbeds. Nice touch by the staff handing out small pizza slices each late afternoon. Overall we were disappointed with this hotel due to the standard of the room. Would rate the hotel 3 star at best and, unfortunately, will not be back.
