Crystal Beach Resort Belle Mare, a member of Radisson Individuals

We have had a week end break at this hotel. First of all, we have had a very nice family stay. The hotel appears old but everything there is functional. The food is very decent and up to a 4 stars. We have received great service from the bar staff ( both beach and main bars) who went our of their way to go above and beyond. Our stay was very nice until a final mishap at check out... This made our review drop drastically... A long story short. We have requested a late check out from the reception so as to enjoy a bit more... We were only given until 13hrs instead of 12hrs to vacate the room as they had guest imminently checking in this room. We agreed and decided to vacate at 12hrs...At 12 hrs, the check out queue was astonishing, we had to wait 20 mins for checking out, something which usually takes seconds as we had already prepaid our all inclusive package and had no pending bills. We waited and checked out. We asked the front desk employee to arrange collection of our bags from the room and place them in the luggage room so that we take them after lunch. Around 16hrs, we were surprised to see that our were nowhere to be found in the luggage rooms. The staff asked us to wait until they find them. We sat for 15 mins and the employee called us to the reception desk. They bluntly told me that I have a bill to pay. Surprised, I said to them that they must be dreaming as I have prepaid my stay and checked out the room at 12hrs at their request. I was only waiting there for me to find my bags... They discussed and then confirmed they confused me with another guest. They asked me to wait without an excuse word. I raised my tone, again asked for them to stop dreaming and find my bags At that moment, my bags miraculously appeared... I was happy to leave... I asked a guy where were the bags, he told me: still in the room... This very same room they urgently needed despite I was ready to pay to keep it a couple of hours more... I was refused to stay in room against payment when my bags stayed 4 hours free... This made my mind, I will never be back nor recommend this hotel to anyone... Most of Mauritius hotels are high standard, but hotels taking paying clients for ****** are to be avoided.... Sadly, we enjoyed quite a lot there and received good service from most staff.... But, this last impression busted this nice stay into a bad experience. We will remember this for a long time in a hotel. We will therefore not go there again and not recommend it.

We had a great stay but the hotel could be made so much better. Having travelled from the UK, first impressions were good, we manage to get our room earlier than standard check in. Rooms were nothing special but were big. Toilet had a constant sewage smell. We only sleep in the rooms so not a big deal for us. The staff in restaurants and bars are mostly great and are very friendly, no complaint’s here and some really go the extra mile. Niall on the Icery bar was great. Restaurants ok, standard buffet food, nothing special. Tried all of the three onsite restaurants, again all just ok. The biggest issue is there is a massive divide in the hotel. The onsite animation team only work with French holidaymakers (booked through Tui France, Lookea) so if you haven’t booked through them then you cannot participate in the day time and evening entertainment programme advertised at the hotel. The weekly entertainment list is not for the hotel but only for the French TUI guests (Lookea). On a Monday night the entertainment boards state there is a white party at the hotel, a lot of guests were dressed in white but this party was at the Bellevue restaurant/beach which is only open to French Lookea guest on this day and the white party was exclusive to them. We booked this hotel as a family hotel with it having an onsite waterpark. Thinking it would have other kid friendly entertainment. The kids disco that is advertised, doesn’t always go ahead and when it does, it’s 3 songs in French. There is a kids club outside of the Lookea team with 1 or 2 English speaking leaders in here, otherwise it’s the French animation team so any films advertised at the kids club are all in French. Grace was great in kids club. Overall I wouldn’t return, I know it’s not a European holiday camp in terms of kids entertainment but with an onsite water park the hotel will attract families. It would be a much better family hotel if the animation served all nationalities not just the French Lookea guest. If this could be fixed I think it would be a really good family friendly hotel to keep the full family entertained.

Overall the hotel was pleasant, our room was lovely and overlooked the beach. We had several problems with the air conditioning leaking in our room but this was sorted. The food was good and if you are on AI then the A La carte restaurants are good to visit and this is unlimited through your stay. But book early they get booked up quickly. The beach was lovely, be careful of sea urchins, wear beach shoes. The family pool gets busy and towels are put out early. We had a great time at Aqua land even with our teenage kids, we spent a lot of time there because they also had lots of spare sunbeds. The waterpsorts were really good and the glass bottom boat trip was fun. I would highly recommend booking the 5 island tour with the watersport hut on the beach great value and they are all a lovely bunch of people. Also we booked our other excursions with the lady in the taxi desk in the hotel reception and they were all excellent trips and very competitive with other companies on the island. Overall we had a great time at the hotel.

Nice compared to last visit in 2024.. Much has changed and hope the good vibes continues.. Surely can come again to enjoy..

Our experience at Crystals Beach Resort Belle Mare was excellent! A special mention goes to Aman, the Front Office Manager, who, after we explained that our experience at our previous hotel had been disappointing, went above and beyond to arrange a wonderful room for us and personally showed us all the hotel facilities before we booked. His professionalism and attention to detail were truly exceptional. Our sincere thanks also go to the entire Food & Beverage team, who greeted us at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the bar with genuine warmth, enthusiasm, and kindness every day. We will definitely choose this hotel again if we return to this part of the island. Many thanks to everyone — and our best wishes for a prosperous future!
